Sunday Book Share #34

I'm participating in Feed My Reader Friday hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A WriterThe Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews. These  memes allow book bloggers the chance to share print and digital books they've received, and different posts and events at their blogs.

Welcome! If you haven't visited for a few days, you'll see I've redecorated. The designer and decorator was Rachel at PJ Designs and she was wonderful. She listened to everything I said, asked questions, and patiently answered my questions. I can happily recommend her to anyone thinking about redesigning their blog.

It was another busy week, both in real life and on the blog. I took Friday night off from all obligations and read a book for fun. Today I have to finish reading some submissions to my pub and give thumbs up or thumbs down to purchasing and publishing them. My allergies have been mild so I've been enjoying having my windows down on the warmer days. I like spring, summer not so much, so I am enjoying this weather. I do wish my apartment had a balcony or patio or some sort of outside access. Goof is still enjoying sitting in the window, face pressed against the screen. :)

I won this from the author, Kaylea Cross, and Book Chick City

This was such a looooooong week. Not only did I have a lot going on at work and personally but then the Boston Marathon bombing happened. I live in a Boston suburb and knew someone running there; he was okay, thank goodness. On Thursday, the suspects shot a cop and on Friday morning, some cities were locked down. Several of my co-workers including my boss were in those cities and couldn't get to work, and one was a close friend of the murdered cop. I am very glad that it's over now and we can get to healing and rebuilding.

Spotlight & GC Giveaway - Moonlit by Jadie Jones

Look at that cover, isn't it lovely? It immediately caught my eye; it probably doesn't hurt that I love horses. :D

Blurb from author ~

Eighteen-year-old Tanzy Hightower knows horses, has grown up with them on Wildwood Farm. She also knows not to venture beyond the trees that line the pasture. Things happen out there that can’t be explained. Or undone. Worse, no one but she and the horses can see what lurks in the shadows of the woods. When a moonlit ride turns into a terrifying chase, Tanzy is left to question everything, from the freak accident that killed her father to the very blood in her veins. Broken and confused, she turns to Lucas, a scarred, beautiful stranger, and to Vanessa, a charming new friend who has everything Tanzy doesn’t. But why do they seem to know more about her than she knows herself?

Publisher: WiDo Publishing
Genre: YA, Urban Fantasy
Format: paperback, ebook
Length: 310 pages, 559 KB
Release Date: March 24, 2013
Buying Links: Amazon Kindle * Amazon * Goodreads

 Prologue ~
The first anniversary of my father’s death was even harder on my mother. Back then, I thought she was haunted most by what she didn’t know. I refused to blame her when she raged above me on our staircase that night, drunk and sad and angry. When she made me promise I’d never ride again. When she hurled a half-full bottle of vodka at my face and it exploded on the wooden stairs at my feet. I hadn’t tried to get out of the way. She had just missed. I wanted to tell her that knowledge was no solace, that what you know can burn inside you until there’s nothing left but guilt and ash. I also wanted to protect her from losing the only piece of him she had left. So I didn’t say a word.

About the Author ~

Georgia native Jadie Jones first began working for a horse farm at twelve years old, her love of horses matched only by her love of books. She went on to acquire a B.A. in equine business management, and worked for competitive horse farms along the east coast. The need to write followed wherever she went. She currently coaches a hunt seat equitation team that competes in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, and lives with her family in the foothills of north Georgia. When she's not working on the next installment of the Moonlit series, she is either in the saddle or exploring the great outdoors with her daughter. Moonlit is her first book.

It was a crazy busy week with both jobs and the blog and this week won't be much calmer though the blog will be a bit lighter. One nice thing this past week was my birthday. That was even the theme of my Cat Thursday meme post. :D I had a good day and last night I got together with friends for dinner. Even the cat was nice to me. :D

Sunday Book Share #31

I'm participating in Feed My Reader Friday hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A WriterThe Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews. These  memes allow book bloggers the chance to share print and digital books they've received, and different posts and events at their blogs.

Spring! Spring is here. My mood always picks up when spring rolls around. The downside to spring is that I feel guilty about staying inside to read whereas in the wintertime, staying inside to read is wonderful. Oh well, nothing's perfect. :D I had the windows open this week and the cat loved it. He was pressed as close as he could be to the screen and his head and ears were swiveling, taking in all the information they could. I also got to see my brother last week when he was up for the funeral. Despite the circumstances it was good to see him again and spend time with him.

The Week In Review

Odd Search Phrases That Led to the Blog: There were a bunch this week. One that's not weird but made me smile was how many times this one was used - "how to catch a cat" followed by "trap a cat". Apparently my Cat Thursday meme post about catching a cat was popular. :D  Some of the odd phrases- "and seclusion" still popular and I'm still clueless; "aurora_valente@hotmail.com" who?, "krystal ball in boots" Why any of these lead to my blog I do not know. :D

BOOKS

Bought - Kindle

This was on sale at Amazon for 99 cents and is a Smart Bitches recommendation. I'm leary because apparently the heroine has asthma and that's a large part of the story. I've yet to read a book or watch a movie that accurately portrays asthma. A co-worker of mine read the book and said Shalvis did okay but it could have been better. I liked the blurb and it was cheap so I'll give it a shot. If she gets it wrong, I won't be reading her again (I've never read her before).

I don't want to jinx things but spring seems to have arrived and just in time for Easter. My plans today  for Easter are church, go for a walk, play with my cat, and read clean my condo, do taxes and play with my cat. April is going to be a busy month for me, both on the blog and off, so I need to take my downtime when I can get it. Happy Easter and Happy Passover to all who celebrate either or both of those holidays.

I requested the book below a few weeks ago and was excited when I heard I'd be getting it, but I didn't expect it so soon. The book isn't out until August 20th, but I'm not complaining! Kelley is one of my favorite authors.  Goof however was not as excited. :D
