Sunday Book Share #36

I'm participating in Feed My Reader Friday hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A WriterThe Sunday Post, hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, and Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews. These  memes allow book bloggers the chance to share print and digital books they've received, and different posts and events at their blogs.

It's Mother's Day here in the US so to all of you who are mothers, regardless of where you live, I hope your family takes care of you and you have a wonderful day. My mother died thirty years today so I'll be out at the cemetery today, maintaining it and taking flowers. No plants, I can't keep plants alive so I take cut flowers and then I don't feel guilty when they die. Later I'll call my stepmother and wish her a happy Mother's Day. What are your plans?

The Week In Review

Giveaways:

Clean Sweep ARC Challenge: I had a slower week this week. I read several books but only two that counted for the challenge and one of them took me several days; Playing Hooky and Targets of Revenge.

Odd and interesting phrases that led to the blog: "how to catch a cat" remains popular  as does "and seclusion" :D; various wordings of "Nora Roberts releases" are also popular and there was a search for a book that I've never heard, "Reboot" by Amy Tintera. I've no idea why that led to my blog.

Coming Up This Week

It's Children's Book Week starting Monday the 13th and running through the 20th. I'll be reviewing a children's book every day and I'm also participating in a blog hop. Check back tomorrow to enter the giveaway.

BOOKS

Bought - Print

It's a Kelley Armstrong book AND it has Norse mythology, how could I resist? I pre-ordered it months ago and have been waiting impatiently for it. I'll probably put a review up as part of Children's Book Week.

Review - Kindle

*pats the pretty* I loved the first two books so I have high hopes for this one. Sue G, an editor at Random, was awesome. I tweeted how I excited I was that the book was now available for review and couldn't wait to read it, and she immediately approved my request to review it. :)  <3

This is for a blog tour next month.

The first week of May; I can not believe it. The year is galloping away from me. We're already working on end of the year conferences at school. Since one of our functions is as a daycare center, we're open year round but we offer a year end conference for all children every spring and summer. Before I know it, we'll be getting our year end reviews, whimper.

Meg the Egg by Rita Borg (am I the only one who thinks of ST:TNG when they see 'Borg'? :D)

Giveaways:

Odd and interesting phrases that led to the blog: "how to catch a cat" remains popular; "asthma real lung" made me smile; "mad scientist" mwahahahaha

Clean Sweep ARC Challenge: 2 down so far :) Summer in Napa and Stuck in the Doldrums: A Lesson in Sharing. Now I'm reading Playing Hooky, review up tomorrow.

Awesome Link: I stumbled across a site where you can sign up, after paying a fee, to have your
OWN STAR TREK EMAIL ADDRESS!!!! *dies of the want* <3 I am such a ST geek, it's absurd. I want this, despite the fee and the hassle of changing email addresses. It might be worth it just so I can say I have a Star Trek email.  Oooo, I could use it as a junk mail addy so my regular inbox is not so full. Hmm..

Welcome! If you haven't visited for a few days, you'll see I've redecorated. The designer and decorator was Rachel at PJ Designs and she was wonderful. She listened to everything I said, asked questions, and patiently answered my questions. I can happily recommend her to anyone thinking about redesigning their blog.

It was another busy week, both in real life and on the blog. I took Friday night off from all obligations and read a book for fun. Today I have to finish reading some submissions to my pub and give thumbs up or thumbs down to purchasing and publishing them. My allergies have been mild so I've been enjoying having my windows down on the warmer days. I like spring, summer not so much, so I am enjoying this weather. I do wish my apartment had a balcony or patio or some sort of outside access. Goof is still enjoying sitting in the window, face pressed against the screen. :)

This was such a looooooong week. Not only did I have a lot going on at work and personally but then the Boston Marathon bombing happened. I live in a Boston suburb and knew someone running there; he was okay, thank goodness. On Thursday, the suspects shot a cop and on Friday morning, some cities were locked down. Several of my co-workers including my boss were in those cities and couldn't get to work, and one was a close friend of the murdered cop. I am very glad that it's over now and we can get to healing and rebuilding.

It was a crazy busy week with both jobs and the blog and this week won't be much calmer though the blog will be a bit lighter. One nice thing this past week was my birthday. That was even the theme of my Cat Thursday meme post. :D I had a good day and last night I got together with friends for dinner. Even the cat was nice to me. :D

Spring! Spring is here. My mood always picks up when spring rolls around. The downside to spring is that I feel guilty about staying inside to read whereas in the wintertime, staying inside to read is wonderful. Oh well, nothing's perfect. :D I had the windows open this week and the cat loved it. He was pressed as close as he could be to the screen and his head and ears were swiveling, taking in all the information they could. I also got to see my brother last week when he was up for the funeral. Despite the circumstances it was good to see him again and spend time with him.

The Week In Review

Odd Search Phrases That Led to the Blog: There were a bunch this week. One that's not weird but made me smile was how many times this one was used - "how to catch a cat" followed by "trap a cat". Apparently my Cat Thursday meme post about catching a cat was popular. :D  Some of the odd phrases- "and seclusion" still popular and I'm still clueless; "aurora_valente@hotmail.com" who?, "krystal ball in boots" Why any of these lead to my blog I do not know. :D

BOOKS

Bought - Kindle

This was on sale at Amazon for 99 cents and is a Smart Bitches recommendation. I'm leary because apparently the heroine has asthma and that's a large part of the story. I've yet to read a book or watch a movie that accurately portrays asthma. A co-worker of mine read the book and said Shalvis did okay but it could have been better. I liked the blurb and it was cheap so I'll give it a shot. If she gets it wrong, I won't be reading her again (I've never read her before).
