Well, so far I really like my new laptop. I'm slowly getting the hang of Windows 10. I still don't love it but it's tolerable. Work has been keeping me busy but I took a few days off. Friday was about doctor appointments for myself and Claude. Claude had his check up and everything was perfect. :) I also had my physical and it went well, a few minor things but nothing to worry about. Life's been quiet so there really isn't much to say. :) I *may* be attending a horse race in a few weeks, the plans aren't set yet. I've never been and I'm really looking forward to it.

My laptop was dying so I've been blogging from the library in the evenings after work, which is not convenient. Ive done it before but I'd blocked out what a nuisance it is. So today, after church and lunch out, I bought a new laptop. Then I took a nap, lol. So I'm late and I haven't been able to visit anyone but here's my post and  I'll visit and comment throughout the week.

I had gotten in the habit of pounding the crap out of my keys in order to get them to respond so I'm relearning NOT to do that so I don't break any of the keys on the new laptop. *pats the new shiny* The OS on this laptop is Windows 10, which I've heard horror stories about, but so far it doesn't suck. It IS confusing and not very intuitive but so far, not horrible.Oh, and the battery on the new laptop? Supposed to last 12 hours! My old one never got more than 2.5 hours before needing a recharge. If this really does last 12 hours or close to it, that would be amazing and oh so convenient.

I saw the new Star Trek movie and it was wonderful! They finally found their stride with this one. It was bittersweet too, knowing that it was Chekov's last film as the actor, Anton Yelchin, who played him in the reboot died recently, and the movie also addressed the death of Leonard Nimoy, who played the original Spock. If you're a Star Trek fan, go see the movie. It's good!

It was hot and muggy last week, though it did dry out towards the end of the week. As hot as it was, I had little motivation to do anything except go home after work to my air conditioned apartment. A friend and I ran errands and went shopping yesterday afternoon and there were a lot of people out and about, no doubt taking advantage of the air conditioning in the stores. It was a fun afternoon and we got a lot done. Today I need to write reviews and I may play around with making some bath salts. Even with the A/C it's too hot to be cooking up soaps.

It was a quiet week, not much happened. Well, except for the day that my toilet overflowed 2 minutes before I needed to leave for work and then, not even 15 minutes into that same work day, a child peed on me. I had no clothes to change into so I washed with soap and water and changed clothes as soon as I got home. Much chocolate was consumed. :D Otherwise, it was a quiet week, lol.

It's a holiday weekend here in the US; we're celebrating our Independence Day. Some years I go watch fireworks but this year I'll probably stay home, maybe watch some on TV. Some neighbors and I will grill out in the condo's common area outside and enjoy the weather. It was hot and humid at the beginning of the week but it's drier now and more pleasant. We've been doing water play on the playground at school and the kids love it. They're utterly drenched when we head inside. :) I got a sunburn on my arms from driving around with my car's sunroof open. I guess I need to put sunscreen on when I drive, lol.

Wow, it's been six months since my last Sunday Post. Life has been kicking my butt with work keeping me busy, and with health, family, financial, and car troubles. Things are still not calm but they're calmer. Additionally, with my work schedule, I just couldn't maintain the blogging schedule that I had. Blogging wasn't fun anymore, but a chore. So, I cut way back, took an extended break. Jax, Steph, and I have all had a lot going on and the blog took a backseat to real life.

I had a busy week at work and a quiet week here on the blog. My asthma flare is hanging on, it refuses to die. I need to go back to the doctor and see what we can do. There won't be a post next Sunday as I'll be at stepmother's house for the long weekend. She's prepping it to sell and all of us kids are going down to pick what we want. My two sisters don't get along and I expect it will be a stressful weekend.

It was a quiet week at school with many families keeping their children home, except for New Year's Eve when a bunch of children came in. After 2 weeks of 4 day work weeks, working 5 straight days this week will feel odd. I got together with some friends after work on NYE; we got Chinese take out and hung out chatting and catching up and drinking Asti Spumante. It was mellow and very pleasant. Now if this darn asthma flare would clear up. It was getting better and then cold, bitter winter air came in and I'm back to doing albuterol every 4 - 6 hours and using the nebulizer.

The last Sunday post of 2015! A few more days until the New Year and typing or writing 2015 when it should be 2016, sigh. It always takes me a week or two to get it right. :D

I had a good Christmas, quiet and low stress. :) I wasn't able to go see my family but enjoyed the holiday anyway. Christmas Eve a friend and I went out for Chinese food and then on Christmas we went and saw Star Wars. It was good!

Less than a week until Christmas, yikes and then it'll be New Year's. Where has the time gone? I'm running around, doing last minute preparations for Christmas. The cats are enjoying the boxes, ribbons, and wrapping paper. Helpful, they are not. :D

It was a really quiet week on the blog last week. My asthma exacerbation became full-blown and I spent all Sunday, and most of the week, on the couch. I was out of work until Friday, which made for a very short work week. The timing was lousy since I haven't been at the new job very long but my asthma has never been cooperative. :D But, once I got to the doctor's office and got steroids and antibiotics, I saw a rapid improvement. I decided take some time off and not to worry about visiting other blogs or spending much time on my blog. I slept a lot, and once the drugs kicked in, I blazed through my pile of library books. I hope to do better this week with content and visits.

The weather has continued to be mild and I'm loving it. Of course, last winter started out mild too but then it went apocalyptic on us halfway through so I have my fingers crossed.  I think I'm going to my stepmother's for Christmas, just for the weekend though. I'm too new at my job to get time off. Though, I may be forced to take some sick time as my asthma has flared up. It started late Friday afternoon and went downhill rapidly on Saturday. It's my annual holiday tradition; it wouldn't be Christmas if I wasn't battling asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, or some combination of the three. You're probably thinking "But Bea, it's three weeks until Christmas! You'll be better by then." Probably not; my recovery time is 2 - 8 weeks. Happy holidays to me! :P

It was nice to have a short work week. I had a quiet Thanksgiving with a friend and her family. We rarely get to see each other despite living only a mile apart so I really appreciated the time together. I've spent a quiet weekend, reading books and starting to write Christmas cards. Working full-time again is really interfering with my reading, review writing, and blog visiting so things may be erratic for a while until I get a new, managable schedule in place. Unlike my previous teaching positions which were 30-35 hours a week, this is a full 40 hours a week plus a weekly commute of 10 hours total so basically a 50 hour week.

I had a busy week at school and reading books for the Ho Ho Ho Read-a thon. I got a little bit behind on reviews but I'll get caught up. This week is the American Thanksgiving and my school is closed Thursday and Friday so I'll have a 3 day work week. Not too shabby. :) I may start writing my Christmas cards; most years I run late with cards. If you're celebrating Thanksgiving, what are your plans?

The first half of the week was good, the second half was a mess with various car problems, which are still not sorted out. Sigh. It's times like this I wish I lived in a city with public transportation instead of a small town out in the boonies.

The weather was unseasonably warm, hitting the low 70s. While it was nice to have the warmer temps, my allergies were acting up and I had a sinus headache most of the week. Thursday was my father's birthday, the first since he died; he was on my mind all day.

I fell asleep on the couch almost every night last week. I'm still adjusting to my new work schedule; the blog schedule may go kablooey while adjust. :D
