Blurb from goodreads:

FBI Profiler Pierce Quincy and Officer Rainie Conner return in a baffling cold case in this exclusive eBook short story by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner.

A young woman is found strangled in the stairwell of a college library, only her sneakers missing. With no physical evidence, no signs of sexual assault, and no witnesses, all the police have to go on are the three men who were in the library with her: her boyfriend and two campus security guards . . . all of whom have secrets, none of whom can be proven guilty.

Five years later, ex-FBI profiler Pierce Quincy and his wife, former police officer Rainie Conner, agree to consult on the still-unsolved case, delving into deep background to comb for any clue that will lead to the woman's murderer. But with no leads and the case colder than the body, will they be able to build a case against one of the three suspects, or is there a fourth man out there? And if the killer has eluded the police this long, how far will he go to ensure justice is never served?

With Gardner's singular ability to delve into the minds of criminals and law enforcement alike, The 4th Man is a shocking look at the reasons for taking a life . . . and just how far profilers need to go to learn them.

It also includes an early look at Gardner's next chilling thriller, Right Behind You, coming February 7, 2017.

COYER Blackout Sign Up

I'm cutting back on challenges this year, since I did so poorly last year with them. I'm doing the Goodreads Reading challenge; I'm co-hosting the Library Love Challenge with Angela from Angel's Guilty Pleasures; and now I'm joining in the newest COYER challenge. It actually started a few weeks ago but I just now decided to join. I think that this year I will do more short-term challenges and fewer of the year long challenges. They just work better for me.

http://coyerchallenge.com/2016/11/17/coyer-blackout-sign-ups/

COYER Blackout will run from December 17, 2016 – March 3, 2017. The linky will remain open one extra day so we can get our reviews in, but they need to be posted by the end of the day March 3rd. There will be winners of (3) $10 gift cards to Amazon or Barnes and Noble on March 4th.

This time COYER is going to be a 12 week Blackout, where you have to dedicate yourself to reading the books you've acquired for less than $1.00. No problem for me since the majority of my ebooks these days are freebies from Amazon or InstaFreebies or are review copies. Library books and borrowed books don't count this time around.

For all the details, or to sign up, go here - http://coyerchallenge.com/2016/11/17/coyer-blackout-sign-ups/

2016 Edition of The TBR Book Tag - How Many Books Are In My TBR Pile?

I did this a couple years ago, missed it last year, and decided to do it again this year, even though I was nervous to compare facts and see how I've done since then. The short answer? Poorly. :D I am a book hoarder, there's no doubt. Books are my addiction. Luckily, it's not an expensive one as I've gotten good at acquiring books at a bargain price or for free.

First, a couple of housekeeping tasks. My definitions of a TBR, or To Be Read, pile differs from many other bloggers. For me, the TBR pile consists of books actually in my possession; I own them or have borrowed them, whether from the library or a friend. If it's a book I want to read but don't have in my possession, then it's a wish list book. My wish list is a mix of books I want to review, books I want to own, and books I want to read. I use it for "shopping" the library and for requesting books as well as for my personal shopping list.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite...Books! My Favorite Books of 2016

Favorite, Books, Bea's Book Nook, Best of, 2016

I wasn't going to do a top books or best of books post this year but, on a whim, I changed my mind. These aren't necessarily the best books I read this year but they are the ones I liked the best. They made me happy when I read them and they make me happy re-reading them; they call to me, stay in mind and I think about them from time to time. I've recommended and talked about them until people run and hide when they see me coming.  😁 Most, but not all, were released this year.

The links go to my reviews, some on the blog and some on goodreads.

Blurb from goodreads:

Mixing high fantasy and mystery, this is Marshall Ryan Maresca’s second novel in the Maradaine Constabulary series, companion to DAW’s Maradaine Novels.

The neighborhood of the Little East is a collision of cultures, languages, and traditions, hidden away in the city of Maradaine. A set of streets to be avoided or ignored. When a foreign dignitary is murdered, solving the crime falls to the most unpopular inspectors in the Maradaine Constabulary: exposed fraud Satrine Rainey, and uncircled mage Minox Welling.

With a murder scene deliberately constructed to point blame toward the Little East, Rainey is forced to confront her former life, while Welling’s ignorance of his own power threatens to consume him. And these few city blocks threaten to erupt into citywide war unless the constabulary solves the case.
