The Council of Elders, a crazed sorcerer assassin, and a vampire hunter out for revenge have driven Jocelyn into hiding. She and her ragtag army have holed up in the forests of Michigan’s upper peninsula to get ready for the fight. If training is any indication, they should be ready for war by the time she turns fifty.

But no one is going to let her wait that long. War is nigh, the death toll is rising, and when Michigan’s most famous harbinger of doom shows up on the scene, the army of the Blood Kissed is hoping for a miracle, praying to be graced with a little kiss of life…

Cat Thursday - May I Borrow Your Phone?

Welcome to the weekly meme hosted by The True Book Addict that celebrates cats; their foibles and humorousness and the joy they bring. You can join in by posting a favorite LOL cat pic you made or came across, cat art or share with us pics of your own felines, then post your link up at The True Book Addict.

This pic reminds me of when I was growing up and late one night my mother, who didn't have her glasses on, opened the door to let our black-and-white cat in and instead a skunk poked his head in the door. Happily, she got the door closed before he came in and he/she chose not to spray us.

Blurb from goodreads:

On her deathbed, Kate Gavrill's mother finally tells her the truth: she is a descendant of Nicholas II, the last tsar of Russia. Kate is the final heir to a family fortune, but nothing is simple in the tragic history of the Romanov clan. In order to claim the royal riches, Kate must find a long-missing alexandrite gem-the Romanov Stone-which is no easy task.

Simon Blake, a respected New York gemologist, will be her companion as they travel overseas in search of the legendary jewel. They will not be fighting historians or archaeologists, however. Instead, they must go up against jewel thieves, members of a blood-thirsty crime syndicate, and a sinister cleric trained in mind control.

Simon wants to find the stone as much as Kate does, but his romantic feelings for her make him more protective than proactive. He wants no harm to come to Kate, whereas she is fiercely driven by the need to make sense of her family history. She knows she deserves the fortune. Kate will find the alexandrite and restore honor to the Romanov line-if it's the last thing she does.

Sunday Book Share #130

http://www.talksupeblog.com/search/label/Bought%20Borrowed%20and%20Bagged

I'm participating in The Sunday Post, hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer; Showcase Sunday hosted by Books, Biscuits and Tea; Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews; and Bought Borrowed and Bagged, hosted by TalkSupe. All of these memes are about sharing the print and digital books received and/or posts and events on the blog.

Wow, it's the end of February and next weekend we adjust the clocks to spring forward an hour. Dare I hope spring is coming? Then again, tonight we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow. Sigh. Oh well. It was a quiet week last week with one bit of sad news - my beta fish Thing Two died. He seemed fine and then suddenly he was dead. He was almost 3 years old which is about average for a beta fish. Yesterday was the end of the Winning at Reading Challenge (remember to link up your reviews!), COYER ends in a few more days and today is the start of the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge hosted by the Caffeinated Reviewer.

Sign Up - March 2015 Take Control Of Your TBR Pile Challenge

Take Control 2015

It's that time again! For the third year in a row, The Caffeinated Reviewer is hosting her challenge for reading your own books. Not review books, not library books, but books you own. It's so easy to shove aside the books you want to read in favor of the books you have to read but the entire month of March is a chance to focus on those personal books. I've been doing that somewhat this month with my Winning at Reading Challenge where we've been reading books we were given or won. For the TBR challenge, I'll focus on books that I've purchased.

From Kimba's post, here are the rules and fine print:

  • Link-up! This is open to everyone. If you do not have a blog then link your Facebook or Goodreads account.
  • Make a Goals/updates/Results post (can be combined) On Goodreads create a folder for Take Control and share your intentions on your wall.
  • Begins March 1st, 2015 and ends March 31, 2015 at midnight.
  • Read/listen to books from your TBR pile .
  • ALL books must have been published before March 2015.
  • Post a review to Goodreads, your blog or Facebook then link it to the Rafflecopter for an entry. (mini review)
  • You can combine events, challenges etc.
  • No novellas for this one peeps
  • The rafflecopter will only allow you to enter up to two books daily, so update as soon as you finish a book.
  • Earn an extra entry for adding Take Control Button to your blog, or facebook (with link-back)
  • Use hashtag #TakeControlTBR
  • Twitter Party and read-a-thon will be announced to help you reach your goals.
  • Rafflecopter will close on April 2, 2015 at midnight and a winner will be chosen within 72 hours. Open internationally as long as Book Depository/Amazon/ Barnes and Noble ship to you. Prize: New 2015 release valued at up to $20.00. I will do pre-orders as well. (may request eBook or Audible audio copy)

My goal: 4

The exact list is of course subject to change depending on my mood but this is the tentative line up. :)

Tempest's Fury by Nicole Peeler
Hiding in Plain Sight by Cassandra Carr
Masques by Patricia Briggs
Tranquility's Blaze by Krista D. Ball

I also have some novellas and short stories I want to read that will not count for the challenge so they're an unofficial goal.

Wallking On Her Grave by Melinda Leigh
Unforgiven by D.B. Reynolds
The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell by Mira Grant

Are you ready? I AM!

Let's read!
