Wow, it's the end of February and next weekend we adjust the clocks to spring forward an hour. Dare I hope spring is coming? Then again, tonight we are supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow. Sigh. Oh well. It was a quiet week last week with one bit of sad news - my beta fish Thing Two died. He seemed fine and then suddenly he was dead. He was almost 3 years old which is about average for a beta fish. Yesterday was the end of the Winning at Reading Challenge (remember to link up your reviews!), COYER ends in a few more days and today is the start of the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge hosted by the Caffeinated Reviewer.

Review
I grabbed a whole bunch of kids books at NetGalley but I'm not listing them here. I got several adult books for review and one print children's book for a May blog tour.
Did you add any books to your shelves or e-readers last week? Leave a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit you during the week.
Thanks
for visiting and happy reading! :)
I really enjoyed your review for The Lost Empress. It had come up on Amazon recommendations for me and I was really intrigued because of the genealogy. I'm glad to see that it sounds like a good series to try. I hope this is the last bit of snow for you guys and spring decides to come soon. I'm so sorry to hear about your fish but hope next week is better!
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to hear what you think of The Lost Empress. It wasn't what I expected but I did enjoy it.
DeleteBe Afraid looks good..I still may accept it. So sorry about Thing Two, our beta lived a little over 3 years. I suck at challenge updates and will get on that. Stay warm, and no more snow.
ReplyDeleteI read the first book in the series by Burton and enjoyed it. Thing Two was a good fish, I'll miss him.
Deleteha..no apparently I followed through with your challenge..hehe. I already submitted it.
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteMore snow for you too? We have more tomorrow I guess... oh joy. It has to end soon?? Hope your week is good, I thought the aquarium book cute sorry to hear it was disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your fish :( We're seeing some signs of spring here, warmer temperatures, a few flowers - mostly bulbs. Enjoy your weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting on more snow tonight too. But turning the calendar page is helping me to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteOh my...More Than Pancakes...what a great title...
My recap: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2015/03/weekly-book-recap-100.html
Sorry for your loss. I was just thinking of getting my nephew a fish or a turtle. I think I'll get him a turtle instead. He might be too affected if his fish died on him too fast.
ReplyDeleteAw poor herd babe. It was a rough month for herd babes.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Thing Two :(
ReplyDeleteI am so sad COYER is almost over I can't believe how fast it went but we are already working on the next one and I can't wait to share it but not yet lol
We are also suppose to get snow and then a nice sheet of ice on top. Should be a fun drive to work tomorrow! Ugh!
Have a great week Bea! Happy Reading! xx
I enjoy Melinda Leigh's books, but have yet to read her Rogue River novellas...I should hurry up and start!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I hope this will be the last of your snow for the season, Bea. We're getting freezing rain right now. Luckily, we don't need to go anywhere.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about Thing Two. We used to have fish and I loved watching them.
Daredevil Duck has such a cute cover! Enjoy all your books.
I hope Spring is on its way - well, it is - or the earth is in deep do do and has stopped spinning/orbiting and tilting. Sorry about your fish - it is sad to lose any pet at any time.
ReplyDeleteMore than pancakes made me hungry since I JUST bought some really dark syrup this week.
Nice haul this week! I have only read one Patricia Briggs book, but I really liked it, so I need to go back for the rest.
ReplyDeleteI'm still looking at Be Afraid. I keep wanting more books and haven't read all of the ones I have. I guess that TBR will never grow smaller.LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to watch for spring. When I see that first tiny green bud on one of my Pecan trees, I'll know it's here.
My Sunday Post - http://fuonlyknew.com/2015/03/01/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-99-and-the-sunday-post/
Awwww! That's a bummer about Thing Two. :( We haven't had betas since the kids were little. Enjoy your snow. We got ours this past week and we're supposed to get up to maybe 70º on Weds. Wut da H?! I picked up a freebie this week that made me *giggle snort* and I know you'll get a kick out of it. :D
ReplyDeleteAww, sorry to hear about the death of your fish. I do hope spring is coming soon, I am tired of cold, snow and winter all together..lol. Two of your books look right up my alley..Be Afraid and The Damned, can't wait to see what you think of them. :)
