Melting the Millionaire’s Heart by Linda Morris

A dimple appeared in his left cheek. Whoa, he was adorable. If her mother hadn’t raised her right, she’d be tempted to lean forward right now and explore that cute little indentation with the tip of her tongue. Maybe she would, later—she couldn’t rule it out.

She finished off her hot dog. Should she have another?

No, the s’mores beckoned. “I’ll do the honors for dessert. I’ll have you know I’m a s’mores expert.” She stuck a couple of big marshmallows on the end of her skewer and held them over the fire. The sonorous tones of the grandfather clock announced eleven o’clock.

“Really?” He leaned back on the hearth rug, propping himself up on his hands. The position showed off his long, leanly muscled thighs. “And where did you come by this expertise?”

“Years of relentless training in the Brownies and Girl Scouts.”

“Ah. Sounds grueling.”

“It was,” she said. “I made sacrifices and suffered a lot. In the end, it was worth it because I became a Jedi master of marshmallow toasting.”

“Do tell,” he said, his white teeth flashing in the firelight.

The sight gave her a pang somewhere very near her heart.

God, she really liked this guy.

One night, two strangers, and enough heat to melt the secret coming between them…

Special-needs teacher Kayla Johnston kisses her New Year’s Eve plans goodbye when she’s cajoled into attending a swanky fundraiser for her school at a remote estate. But instead of schmoozing with the would-be donor, a massive snowstorm sends Kayla careening off the road, straight into the path of a wickedly handsome stranger. When their chemistry ignites, Kayla’s New Year’s Eve begins to show some seriously sexy promise…

After hearing about the selfish “gazillionaire” who ruined her New Year’s Eve, reclusive entrepreneur Ryan Langford can’t bring himself to admit that he’s the millionaire responsible for the fundraiser. Besides, he’d much rather be marooned in a cabin with the enticing teacher he can’t resist. But if he wants a chance with Kayla, he’ll have to find a way to reveal his real identity before the snow melts and she disappears from his life.

Previously released on Entangled’s Ever After imprint – December 2012

January Balancing the Books

Inspired by Fantasy Is More Fun and The Geeky Blogger's Book Blog, I decided to start tracking my book expenses this year. I'll do a wrap up post at the end of each month.

I've given myself $10 real money each month to spend on books, whether for myself or as gifts, and another $10 per month for blog giveaways. "Real money" being cash from my bank account as opposed to gift cards and store credits. Books from my personal shelves, borrowed from the library or a friend, and books received for review do not count against my purchases though I'll track review and library books here as books acquired.

January Challenge Wrap Up

I was ambitious this year. I'm hosting 4 challenges, participating in additional 4 year-long challenges, and will do various short-term challenges throughout the year. Let's see how I did and you can share your accomplishments in the comments.

Blurb from goodreads:

Men in Black meets Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum in the new urban fantasy novel starring seer Makenna Fraser and her fellow agents at Supernatural Protection & Investigation.

The agents of Supernatural Protection & Investigations (SPI) know that fighting evil is a full-time job, especially when a new designer drug—with mind-blowing side effects—hits the streets...

It’s called Brimstone. And after the first few hits, you’ll see every supernatural beast sharing the sidewalk, train, or office with you. After that, you’ll start seeing the really scary stuff.

I’m Makenna Fraser, seer for the SPI. And the collateral damage caused by Brimstone is something I’d like to unsee: dead drug dealers missing their hearts—and souls. Because your local pusher doesn’t stand a chance against the new cartel muscling its way into New York. And since the drug can only be produced with magic and molten brimstone fresh from Hell, that means a rift to the underworld is open somewhere in the city.

And when—not if—the cartel loses control of it, well...

It’s going to be Hell on earth.

Jeff Gunhus is the author of thriller and horror novels for adults and the middle grade/YA series, The Templar Chronicles. His books for adults have reached the Top 100 on Amazon and have been Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Finalists.

After his experience with his son, he is passionate about helping parents reach young reluctant readers and is active in child literacy issues. As a father of five, he leads an active lifestyle in Maryland with his wife Nicole by trying to constantly keep up with their kids. In rare moments of quiet, he can be found in the back of the City Dock Cafe in Annapolis working on his next novel.

Excerpt from The Brimstone Deception by Lisa Shearin

Excerpt, The Brimstone Deception, Lisa Shearin, Bea's Book Nook

The SPI Files is an urban fantasy mystery series that I really enjoy; it's a lot of fun and a different take on many of the standard creatures. I'm excited to share an excerpt today and later I'll have a review of the book.

Lisa Shearin currently works as the editor at an advertising agency. She has been a magazine editor and writer of corporate marketing materials of every description. Lisa enjoys singing, reading, writing novels, and fencing. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, two cats, two spoiled-rotten retired racing greyhounds, and a Jack Russell terrier who rules them all. Visit her online at www.lisashearin.com.
