Cover Reveal--Whispers and Wishes by Hollie Westring

Ever wanted to travel around the country? Maybe spent time looking for a loved one? I'm a homebody myself but I occasionally enjoy reading about other people's travels, and my brother has wandered extensively. In "Whispers and Wishes" by Hollie Westring, travels around the US looking for her mother and along the way she finds love. It releases next month, on November 7th.

Hollie Westring hails from Kansas City, Mo. She used to be a journalist, which probably explains her extreme dislike of the serial comma and her preference for AP style.

After realizing the hours of journalists were not productive to any type of social or family life, she settled into a job at a publishing syndicate. She worked with comics, astrology columns, word puzzles and feature columns for six years. Although she enjoyed her time there, Hollie decided to leave the nine-to-five world and join the twenty-four/seven world of motherhood. Now she edits from home.

When not writing, editing or reading, Hollie can be found baking cookies or watching more than her fair share of crime TV. She’s a loyal Royals and Chiefs fan.

Book blurb from the author ~

Eliza Monroe has been traveling the United States for three years, immersing herself in the towns she visits as she searches for the mother she’s never known. She hopes returning to her grandmother’s inn in Sage Springs, Mo., will provide the break she needs to evaluate her lonely life.

What Eliza isn’t expecting is to have two men enter the picture, not making her decision to stay or leave any easier. One has been her foundation, while the other is as comfortable as she is hopping from city to city. Throw in a kooky grandmother, a cheerful best friend, a sarcastic guest, a town where residents and spirits interact like neighbors, and Eliza has little time to contemplate her future.

Friendships grow, webs are spun and lies are revealed before Eliza comes to terms with what she wants in life and learns what's really important.

This sounds like a quirky book and I enjoy a well-written quirky book.

At the end of Blood and Snow season 1, Snow White kissed her true love and became the Vampire Queen. Life should’ve been perfect.

Except it wasn’t.

<3 This is the story of Snow’s life After the Kiss… <3

Over the course of season 2 in the Blood and Snow series, Snow will unravel the truth about her absentee father, the stepmother who never cared and the treacherous Hunter.

For her little sister’s sake, Crystal can’t get too close. Until her job and Shane’s mission intersect, and he reveals talents that go deeper than she could have guessed.

 Blurb from the author ~

Boys of war suck at romance. Charity Delyle has lived in the shadow of her Prodigy cousin and his powerful Guard since the day she was born. And she doesn’t mind—really. Except that being in Hunter’s shadow means that he can’t see her. And she’d like that to change. Hunter has one purpose in life: Protect the Prodigy, or die trying. That means a social life, school, and even Charity come last until the war is over. For the most part, he’s okay with that—he can lose everything if he has to…except his seer. Starting at a new school should be much safer than living in a war-ravaged Carules headquarters. But this new school is different than the others. Friendships are forged and destinies are questioned, and Hunter’s decision could cost them all everything they’ve been hoping for.

Available for Pre-order! Brazen, Nick's story, by Kelley Armstrong

*Does the Snoopy happy dance*

It's here! Well, it isn't actually in my hands or anything like that but Nick's story is available for pre-order and baby, did I pre-order. LOL

I love Kelley's world and especially her werewolves. Nick has long been one of my favorites so I am ecstatic that he has a story. She did write a hilarious short story about him several years ago that can be found in one of her anthologies but this is longer and presumably more in-depth. Plus it has art by Xaviere, who has illustrated many other novellas and short stories by Kelley.

The details ~

Available in two versions, trade and limited. Trade is a fully cloth bound hardcover edition, priced at $28US and will feature a full-color dust jacket as well as four full-color interior illustrations. The limited version, which I splurged on, is also hardcover, bound in leather, with a different dust jacket than the trade edition, full-color endsheets, and two additional full-color illustrations not in the trade, and only 1000 copies available. They are signed and numbered and cost $48US.

The blurb ~

Nick Sorrentino knows everyone in the supernatural world considers him the Pack’s playboy, the pretty but not very useful werewolf whose only reputation involves his amorous exploits.

Usually, Nick couldn’t care less what anyone outside the Pack thinks of him. But when it affects his hunt for Malcolm Danvers, a psychotic bogeyman from the Pack’s past, it matters.

Necessity forces Nick to team up with mercenary half-demon Vanessa Callas to run Malcolm to ground in Detroit. Together, they discover Malcolm is more deadly than ever. And he wants to play.

It’s time for Nick to prove he’s not just a lover.

He’s a fighter.

Nick taking on Malcolm, this ought to be good.  :)

That's a lot of blood and bones. I can't wait to find out what happened.

Cover Reveal! No One's Angel by Kelly Walker

Hello, pull up a seat and have a look at the cover for "No One's Angel" by Walker. It's a New Adult Romance releasing in September and for you geeks out there, the hero and heroine are gamers! I've been seeing more romances recently that feature gamers and I think it's great. I don't game but so many people do, why shouldn't they be represented in books too? Take a look at the blurb and see what you think -

New Cover! Sabaska's Tale by J.A. Campbell

This is a book that I've been waiting for since it was first announced several years ago. It's had a troubled journey, changing publisher's several times for different reasons but, finally it's here! Well, almost. It will be released in one month, on July 15th. On July 9th, I'll have an excerpt, courtesy of the author. I'll also be reviewing it, though I don't have a definite date yet.

Cover Reveal for Heist by Laura Pauling

Today I have a cover for a soon-to-be-released YA psychological thriller, "Heist", by Laura Pauling. Laura writes young adult fiction. She lives the cover of suburban mom/author perfectly, from the minivan to the home-baked snickerdoodles, while hiding her secret missions and covert operations. But shh. Don't tell anyone!

Cover Reveal for Black Arts by Faith Hunter

"Black Arts" is the seventh book in Hunter's Jane Yellowrock series. Jane Yellowrock is a Harley-riding, leather-wearing, vampire killing machine behind her church-schooled manners. Her motto – Have Stakes, Will Travel – is succinct and to the point. She’s currently the Enforcer for the Master of the City, MOC, of the Southeastern US (except for Florida), Leo Pellisier, hunting down rogue vamps and other threats to mankind. She’s very much an introvert, but learning to work with others. She’s a Cherokee Skinwalker, in a day and age when Skinwalkers are no longer remembered, and her past is a mystery, even to her.

New Cover! Hunted by D.B. Reynolds

Yes, another cover. Apparently today is the day for them. :) This is for a novella by D.B. Reynolds, an author whose PNR books I enjoy. "Hunted" is part of her Vampires in America series and focuses on Cyn and Raphael. If you haven't read their stories yet, save this one until you do.

I'm not generally fond of reds or oranges but this cover is eerie and evocative, which seems just right to me.

New Cover! The Shining from Stephen King and Subterranean Press

Back in the fall, I shared an announcement from Subterranean Press concerning an illustrated limited edition version of The Shining by Stephen King. Today, they revealed the cover. The artwork is by Vincent Chong.

You have to be a hardcore King lover as the book is not cheap and it is a limited Gift edition: 1500 Deluxe Hardcover copies, housed in a custom slipcase, with bonus chapbook: $95. If you order The Shining before the end of business on June 7, 2013 will also receive a bonus chapbook of Vincent Chong's sketches available nowhere else.

Blog Tour Cover & Trailer Reveal for Losing Francesca by J.A. Huss

Today's book is a New Adult/Young Adult romance mystery about a teenage girl who may or may not be a girl who was kidnapped as a child. I'm excited to share the cover and the book trailer with you.

About the author ~

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

So when Francesca shows up at the Sullivan farm down the road, he’s compelled to figure out if this girl really is his long lost friend. But Francesca knows she’s not Fiona Sullivan. Cover Reveal - Breaking the Reins by Juliana Haygert

I have a cover for you, for a New Adult Romance scheduled to release in August, and it has horses! Horses, people. How could I pass this up? Horses in the book and a horse on the cover. :) Yep, I was one of those horsey girls growing up and while I haven't ridden in years, I'm still fond of horses.

So, besides horses, what else does "Breaking the Reins" have? How's about a blurb? :D

Blurb from the author (I was sooo tempted to say 'from the horses's mouth' :D)  ~
Horses, mansions, tea parties, and lies are twenty-year-old Hannah Taylor’s life. To others, her family and her relationship with Eric is perfect. But she knows the truth. She lives it.

After a fire takes her grandma’s life and kills her horse, Hannah’s immaculate life spirals out of control. Her father disapproves of her decision to run her grandma’s ranch instead of focusing solely on learning the family business; Animal Control brings her Argus, a mistreated horse that she can’t turn away even though she’s not ready for another horse; and her boyfriend, Eric Bennett, a world famous polo player, becomes possessive and authoritarian. Despite her best efforts to disguise it, Hannah grows wary of him.

Then, Leonardo Fernandes struts onto the polo scene. A cocky rookie with a messy life of his own, he’s drawn to Hannah and isn’t afraid of showing it, even when Eric makes it clear she is his and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Hannah suffers for Eric’s jealousy. The abuse only gets worse when Leo steals the title of best polo player in the world from Eric.

But the title isn’t enough for Leo. He wants Hannah too, and she can’t deny her attraction to him either. Somehow, she must find a way to break free from abusive Eric before he breaks every bone in her body.

So, horses, abuse, romance (non-abusive), and a ranch - sounds good to me. Want more? How about a teaser?

A little info about the author -

While Juliana Haygert dreams of being Wonder Woman, Buffy, or a blood elf shadow priest, she settles for the less exciting—but equally gratifying—life of a wife, mother, and author. Thousands of miles away from her former home in Brazil, she now resides in Connecticut and spends her days writing about kick-ass heroines and the heroes who drive them crazy.

Find Juliana online:

And now, for the cover. *pats the horse*

Now, I'd buy it just for the horse alone (look at those eyes!). I'm not so sure that the cover reflects that the story is a romance or that it deals with an important topic such as abuse, but it's an attractive cover.

New Cover! Making It Last by Ruthie Knox

"Making It Last", a novella sequel to "How to Misbehave", the first story in Ruthie's Camelot series, is due in mid-July and it now has a cover. We get to see Amber and Tony again, something I'm looking forward to very much. I loved their romance and enjoyed the small glimpses we got in "Along Came Trouble".

The tentative blurb from Ruthie's site:
The final Clark family story of the Camelot series revisits Tony and Amber Mazzara twelve years after How to Misbehave. Work and parenthood have challenged the foundations of Tony and Amber’s happy ever after. Can they turn a few stolen days in Jamaica into the chance they’ve been needing to find each other again?
40,000 words. More details to come!

There are four books in the Camelot series:

1. How to Misbehave
2. Along Came Trouble
3. Flirting with Disaster (Release date, June 10th)
4. Making it Last (Release date, July 15th)

*bounces around the room* Is it July yet?

What do you think? Will you read it? Does the cover grab you?

*bounces some more*

COVER REVEAL: Bathing Beauties, Booze and Bullets by Ellen Mansoor Collier

The title of this book grabbed me right away when I got the email about this cover reveal and I was curious. The book is set during America's Jazz Age and I think both the title and the cover reflect that very well. Before I share the cover with you, let me tell you about the book and its author.

Ellen Mansoor Collier is a Houston-based freelance magazine writer whose articles and essays have been published in several national magazines, including: FAMILY CIRCLE, MODERN BRIDE, GLAMOUR, BIOGRAPHY, COSMO, PLAYGIRL, etc. Several of her short stories have appeared in WOMAN'S WORLD. A flapper at heart, she’s the owner of DECODAME, specializing in Deco to retro vintage items (www.art-decodame.com).

Formerly she's worked as a magazine editor, and in advertising and public relations (plus endured a hectic semester as a substitute teacher). She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Magazine Journalism. During college, she once worked as a cocktail waitress, a short-lived experience since she was clueless about cocktails. "FLAPPERS, FLASKS AND FOUL PLAY" was her first novel. She lives in Houston and visits Galveston whenever possible.

"When you grow up in Houston, Galveston becomes like a second home. I had no idea this sleepy beach town had such a wild and colorful past until I began doing research, and became fascinated by the legends and stories of the 1920s. Finally I had to stop researching and start writing, trying to imagine a flapper's life in Galveston during Prohibition."

Book Blurb from the author ~
It’s 1927 in Galveston, Texas—the “Sin City of the Southwest.” Jasmine (“Jazz”) Cross is an ambitious 21-year-old society reporter for the Galveston Gazette who tries to be taken seriously by the good-old-boy staff, but the editors only assign her fluffy puff pieces, like writing profiles of bathing beauties. The last thing Jazz wants to do is compare make-up tips with ditzy dames competing in the “International Pageant of Pulchritude and Bathing Girl Revue.”

She’d rather help solve the murders of young prostitutes who turn up all over town, but city officials insist on burying the stories during Splash Day festivities. After Jazz gets to know the bathing beauties, she realizes there’s a lot more to them than just pretty faces and figures. Jazz becomes suspicious when she finds out the contest is sponsored by the Maceos, ruthless Beach Gang leaders and co-owners of the Hollywood Dinner Club, where the girls will perform before the parade and pageant.

Worse, her half-brother Sammy Cook, owner of the Oasis, a speakeasy on a rival gang’s turf, asks her to call in a favor from handsome Prohibition Agent James Burton—an impossible task that could compromise both of their jobs and budding romance. While Agent Burton gives her the cold shoulder, she fends off advances from Colin Ferris, an attractive but dangerous gangster who threatens Sammy as well as Burton. In the end, she must risk it all to save her friends from a violent killer hell-bent on revenge. Inspired by actual events.

Publication date:  April 2013
Genre: New Adult Jazz Age Mystery

The cover is very reminiscent of artwork of the Jazz era, I really like it.
