Blurb from goodreads:

Kitty Norville is back and in more trouble than ever.  Her recent run-in with werewolves traumatized by the horrors of war has made her start wondering how long the US government might have been covertly using werewolves in combat. Have any famous names in our own history might have actually been supernatural?  She's got suspicions about William Tecumseh Sherman.  Then an interview with the right vampire puts her on the trail of Wyatt Earp, vampire hunter.

But her investigations lead her to a clue about enigmatic vampire Roman and the mysterious Long Game played by vampires through the millennia.  That, plus a call for help from a powerful vampire ally in San Francisco, suddenly puts Kitty and her friends on the supernatural chessboard, pieces in dangerously active play.  And Kitty Norville is never content to be a pawn. . . .

Bea Reviews The Long Way Home by Jessica Scott

Publisher: Tormia Creatives
Format Read: eGalley
Source: the author in exchange for an honest review
Release Date: March 18, 2013
Buying Links: Amazon* | Book Depository* | Barnes & Noble | Smashwords
* affiliate links; the blog receives a small commission from purchases made through these links.

Blurb from goodreads:

My name is Jessica Scott. I am a soldier. I am a mother. I am a wife.

In 2009, Army second lieutenant Jessica Scott deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. She thought deploying was the hardest thing she'd ever do.

She was wrong.

This is the story of a mother coming home from war and learning to be a mom again. This is the story of a lieutenant making the grade and becoming a company commander. This is the journey of a writer persevering through a hundred rejections. This is the story of a soldier learning to be a woman again. This is the story of a wife waiting for the end of a war.

This is the journey as it happened, without commentary.

This is her blog. There are many blogs from the Iraq war, but this one is hers.

Take Control of Your TBR Pile March 2014 Challenge

http://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/2014/01/take-control-tbr-pile-march-2014-challenge.html

It's spring cleaning time again! I'm participating in two such reading challenges this month, this one, and the Clean Out Your E-Reader Challenge. This challenge is hosted is by the Caffeinated Reviewer and is all about reading books in your personal TBR pile and not review books. I do need to sneak in a few review books, which won't count, but I will aim to read mostly from my personal pile. Last month I had my own private reading challenge wherein I tried to catch up on books I'd won or been gifted, with mixed success. This month I'll focus on catching up on series books which I can then count towards the Finishing the Series Reading Challenge. However, I want flexibility in my reading this month so I'll also read whatever strikes my fancy, be it print or digital.

How does the Take Control of Your TBR Pile Challenge work? (For full details or to sign up, go here or here.)

1) Beginning March 1st, 2014 and ending March 31, 2014 at midnight, read books from your TBR pile. ALL books must have been published before March 2014.

2) To encourage you for every book you read you’ll get one entry into a Rafflecopter drawling to win a new 2014 release of your choice!

 3) Post a review to Goodreads, your blog or Facebook then link it to the Rafflecopter for an entry. (review can be a short one)

4) You can combine events, challenges etc. (YAY!)

5) No novellas for this one. :(

I'll post my results at the end of the month in my monthly challenge wrap-up post. Wish me luck!

My very tentative reading list, subject to change:

Kitty's Big Trouble by Carrie Vaughn
Kitty Steals the Show by Carrie Vaughn
Kitty Rocks the House by Carrie Vaughn
Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors by Molly Harper
Discount Armageddon by Seanan McGuire

It's not many I know but I am also doing the COYER challenge and have some review books to read so I think it'll keep me busy.
