Book Beginnings and Friday 56 - The Bear's Chosen Mate by Vivian Arend

I'm participating in two Friday book memes, Book Beginnings On Fridays, hosted by Rose City Reader, and The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice.

I'll be starting this book tonight or tomorrow, with a review hopefully next week.

Book Beginnings Rules:

Every Friday, share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

From the desk of Giles Borealis, Sr.

Not exactly an attention  grabber. The book appears to start with a letter from a grandfather to his grandsons.

Friday 56 Rules:

*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to Page 56 or 56% on your ereader. If you have to improvise, that is okay.
*Find a snippet, short and sweet.
*Post it, and add the url to your post at the Link here.here.

The quote is from 56%  in the eARC.

"Why? Do you feel different?"
"Oh, no. No, no, no, no. Nothing yet." Then of all things, he started to straighten the sheets around them. Fussing for no reason.

That's a bit more promising. Emotions, prevarication, and tidying up - it's got my attention.

What book are you embarking on? Share in the comments.

  1. The second excerpt is a bit more revealing and has me curious. I already thinking I might enjoy this one from the title. I enjoy a good shifter romance! I hope you like it when you read it. Have a great weekend, Bea!

  2. The title and the cover photo are very perplexing. Does the bear choose a human female? My Friday Quotes are at the bottom of my review

  3. I need more I think. Too ominous for me at this point. Happy weekend!
