I HAVE AIR CONDITIONING!!!
A friend found a good deal on a portable unit at BJ's Discount Club and let me use her membership to purchase it. Eventually I'll have to replace the wall unit but right now this is a better fit for my budget. So naturally, the temps were cooler last week; so much so that Goof abandoned the cool tile floor of the dark bathroom to go back to his ottoman under the sunny living room window. I also got a lot of reading done last week despite being back at work.

I didn't do as well as I'd like with my ban but I did read a lot last week so, the TBR pile total is down despite my lack of control.

I asked for this months ago, waited impatiently for an answer, then got an email from the publicist asking if I want to review. Oh, hmm. Let me think about that. :D It arrived on Friday, a perfect ending to a work week.
I'll be reviewing this in September, although it's out at the end of this month. There will also be a giveaway and a fun post on dirty words. :)

Since I enjoyed The Cursed I gave in to temptation and requested the next one.
This is for a blog tour next month.
Did you add any books to your shelves or e-readers last week? Leave a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit you during the week.
I love Graham, and will review Hexed for August. Of course I had to have Grant's book :) Wahoo to air conditioning ..so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteLOL Air conditioning is a life-saver when it comes to these crazy temperatures. So I'm sure you'll enjoy all day long now. You've got some amazing books and I hope you'll enjoy them. Great haul :)
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of the air conditioning! We usually don't add air conditioners to our houses here in Finland since it normally isn't that hot here since the summer is quite short, but in the past couple of weeks it has been so warm here that the house fells like a sauna all the time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your air conditioning though and all of your new books! :) Have a good week!
Yay for A/C! *does happy dance, stops to catch breath* I need to check out the Heather Graham books and there's a tour for Sandra Brown? I should look into that because I love her books. Great haul! :) Have a most excellent (and cool) week! :)
ReplyDeleteYAY FOR AIR CONDITIONING!! That is the best of the best creation in the history of summer. ;) Hehe. I hope it works awesomely.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post!
That's some good news about the AC. I have never read Sandra Brown but a cousin lives next door to one of her houses. Glad you got some reading done. You can find me here: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2014/07/sunday-june-20.html
ReplyDeleteNice new books, Bea. Glad you found a solution to the air conditioning situation. I've been loving the cooler temps, but of course you know we're in for another heat wave before summer's end--now you're ready for it! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMy recap: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/07/weekly-book-recap-76.html
Having AC is important for the summer. It would be too hot without it. Heather Graham's book looks interesting.

YAY!!! AC :) I can't even imagine how you lived for so long without it. I would have died!
ReplyDeleteI am looking froward to seeing what you think of Kelley Armstrong's Visions. I have an odd relationship with her books. I loved them but not as much as I think everyone else does. So I cam curious to see what you think.
Have a great week Bea!! Happy Reading
Yay to air conditioning! Wow, The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell sounds seems interesting! I'm surprised to find that it's a novella though.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Phew.... air conditioning finally!!! How's your asthma now?!?!? Are you feeling better now?!
ReplyDeletePhenomenal haul this week! That's funny about the Armstrong book! I've had pubs approve me for the ebook AFTER they've sent me the physical. Oh well...
Have a great week - glad Goof came out the bathroom :)
Ooh, adding Mean Streak to my list...and I need to continue the J. D. Robb series. Enjoy your week, and yay for the air conditioning!
ReplyDeleteHere's my MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES POST
Nice haul! Cursed and Visions look and sound like great reads, think I need to add them to my own list ;)
ReplyDeleteMy new pretties :)
Glad to hear that you have air-conditioning. We needed ours yesterday and looks like it will still be needed for the next 4-5 days. I enjoyed Visions. Come see what I got at Ms. Martin Teaches Media and Inside of a Dog. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you were able to get an air conditioner - and those things work pretty good. Of course the temperatures would drop as soon as you got it, that's how it goes. If you hadn't you would have had record breaking heat, right?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new reads - that's too funny about the one you requested. At least you ended up with it some how :P Have a great week!
YAY FOR AIRCONDITIONING!!! I'm on holiday in Scotland and the flat I'm staying in doesn't have air conditioning. You would think it'd be cold up here, but it's really hot this summer.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!

Huzzah for air conditioning! We take it so for granted until it breaks. I'm so glad you've got at least a portable unit now, and hope you can get your wall unit fixed in the near future.
ReplyDeleteYour new books look good - glad you got the Kelley Armstrong, since you particularly wanted it.
Have a great week!
Congrats on getting your AC! I have The Hexed but haven't read it yet though I have high hopes. The Armstrong looks great. So fun to get a book you really want!
ReplyDeleteYay for AC! It's a must have in Alabama so I can't imagine not having it. I am looking forward to reading Hexed and Visions looks really great! I hope you have a terrific week!
ReplyDeleteNice books, Bea. And glad you were able to cool off your house.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new a/c!
ReplyDeleteThe Sandra Brown book looks really good. It's been a long time since I've read one of her books.
Have a great week!
Yay for the AC unit!! Gosh it took them long enough! Whew! Enjoy your new lovelies now that you got cool air blowing :D
ReplyDeleteHexed sounds good, hope you enjoy. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSome search terms people use that lead to your blog are hilarious. Thanks for sharing and yay for the air conditioning!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Bea!
Yeah for air conditioner! Where I live not everyone has air conditioning,so I was so happy when we bought a house that has it!! I don't know how people just open windows!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you finally have airconditioning! I could not live without mine! Have a great week Bea!

Some weeks I wonder how you keep up with all the books and posts. You are a mad machine. lol. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear about the air conditioning, and it sounds like Goof approves! We were camping all last week and were lucky to have nice temps, not too hot.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good bunch of books this week!
I could not survive without air conditioning, lol. I'm really heat sensitive, so it would be unbearable without it!
