Blurb from goodreads:

Gwyn Jacobs doesn’t believe in fairy tales. Ever since her ex-husband walked out, leaving her alone with three small children, Gwyn has been mother, father, and bread-winner all rolled into one. Her own scarred heart aside, she refuses to open up her children’s lives to the possibility of another heartbreak, and so she has an unbending policy of no dating and no unattached men in their lives.

Until her very own fairy tale falls into her lap...and the hero won’t take no for an answer.

Bea's Thoughts:

Although Poitevin is best known for her urban fantasy series, The Grigori Legacy, she's also written romance. She first published "Gwynneth Ever After" several years ago under the title "A Fairy Tale for Gwyn" then revised it and self published it as "Gwynneth Ever After". I enjoy chatting with Linda on Twitter and I enjoy contemporary romance so I requested it. And then it kept falling to the bottom of the TBR pile. *hangs head in shame* But I finally read it!

"Gwynneth Ever After" is a cute and sweet love story. Gwynneth is a smart, tired, wary single mother and self-employed architect. While working on a special project, she bumps into Welsh movie actor Gareth. There's an instant attraction but they don't jump in the sack right away; they spend time together and get to know each other. He even helps out with her kids which provides for some cute moments. Gareth and Gwynneth have heat together and some fun sparks. They both have a sense of humor and angst is at a minimum. There are no brooding dark heroes here.

The details of Gareth's life as an actor felt real and I could empathize with Gwynneth's concerns about being part of that life. Her life as a single parent felt real also and wasn't just a convenient plot device. Gwyn's love life had to fit around her family and her work and Gareth got it. He didn't fuss or get upset because she couldn't just drop everything to spend time with him.

Gareth and Gwynneth each have issues and both are concerned about how their relationship will affect the children. There's a big misunderstanding, of course, related to Gareth's issue, one that the reader sees coming a mile away. I did have some qualms about how understanding Amy was about what Gareth had done. Who's Amy? Well, that's a bit of a spoiler but I will say she's not an ex or anything like that. The ending was overly sweet, a scene out of a romantic comedy, but it did fit the book. "Gwynneth Ever After" is a sweet, uncomplicated love story that was a quick read. I enjoyed it and hope that Poitevin will write more romances.
