Blurb from goodreads:
Can he turn one night into forever?
After being ditched only weeks before her wedding, Cassie Stockwell wasn’t out looking for a hookup. Then the devastatingly handsome bartender she’d been trying not to obsess over for months offered to give her a ride home. What could one night hurt?
When his future was almost taken away after one impulsive decision, wolf-shifter and ex-con Jace Miller waited patiently for months before making a move on the woman he knew to be his destined mate. But will one night of passion keep his little human by his side once she learns of his world and the danger it brings to her doorstep?
This one caught my interest when it was a shared post by a friend with the words "Free at Time of Posting". 99% of the time my free books just sit on my kindle and never get read unless I am on a road trip and bored. 95% of the free ones I start, I never finish. This book is an exception to both. I not only started it, I finished it in one night.
For a free book, it was not bad at all. Cassie is an enjoyable female lead. She is was just dumped, takes the bartender home for a one nighter, finds herself mated to a werewolf and then hunted by vampires. She actually takes it all pretty good. I like to think I would take the same experience in stride but I hate surprises.
So the story is pretty decent. I would have liked a little more development of the new shifter world being created but I got enough to get a good idea of what is going on. I would have liked a bit more development/history on the female vamp who is the "bad guy". Hopefully in the next book some things get a little more explanation.
Overall, this was not a bad read. It has some good sexy scenes and a decent plot. I will probably pick up the next one in the series. The wolf in that story, Mercury, caught my interest in this story.
