Blurb from goodreads:

The agents of Supernatural Protection & Investigations (SPI) protect people from predatory supernaturals. This time, we’re the ones who need protection.

New York is one of the most popular convention destinations in the world—for humans and supernaturals. Every hundred years, rulers of the world’s supernatural races come together to negotiate and renew a peace treaty. Meeting in the same hotel are the governors of our world’s goblin and elf colonies. SPI is saddled with the security nightmare of keeping the living delegates alive and the undead delegates from becoming permanently deceased. We’ve got our work cut out for us.

I’m Makenna Fraser, seer for SPI. Our security nightmare becomes real when monsters from the delegates’ mythologies begin mysteriously appearing in the flesh to hunt delegates from every side of the debate. And when the hotel gets sucked into another dimension, there’s no escape.

We discover that we’re all pieces in an elaborate and deadly game. A game about to spill out into the real world. Failing to escape is game over and not an option. We have to save the world—but first, we have to save ourselves.

My Thoughts:

I've enjoyed this series right from the first book and was delighted when the author asked if I'd review this one. "The Myth Manifestation" was just as good as the previous books, full of action, mystery, intrigue, a hint of romance, and the return of characters from some of those earlier books. It even had a couple characters show up from her Raine Benares series. They stood on their own just fine so don't worry if you haven't read those books yet.

Mac, Ian, Vivienne, Kenji, Kitty, Yasha (I love him so much!) are all on hand to help with a major diplomatic meeting of the various alien and supernatural races. But of course events don't run smoothly and the hotel is invaded by creatures thought to be mythological. Then, in true closed room mystery fashion, the hotel is locked down by an unknown enemy and hidden away in a dimensional pocket. The only ones able to get in or out are their enemy and the mischievous creatures.

"The Myth Manifestation" brought back characters from previous books and tied up some threads while advancing others. I wish that Mac and Rake's romance was progressing at faster pace but I do appreciate that they are taking their time and getting to know each other. The story moves along at good clip though there are a few slow moments. At times, it seemed as if everyone had a secret and that that secret was affecting events. Even allies were keeping secrets from each other; who to trust? There are secrets, conspiracies, and intrigues galore. You want to pay attention to each of the characters introduced and maybe you'll do better than I did at unraveling what's going on and who are the good guys and the bad guys.

With humor, action, a varied cast of beings and characters, mystery and intrigue, "The Myth Manifestation" was a delightful romp and I can't wait to see where the series goes next.

Some favorite quotes:

Noel Tierney, SPI's resident psychiatrist, had started a monthly support group of sorts for SPI employees who were descendants of gods/goddesses/heroes and found themselves saddles with some or all of their ancestors' abilities or outright superpowers...A bunch of demigods and superheroes sitting around talking about their feelings. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for just one meeting.

Just because someone was a vampire who considered you food didn't mean they weren't good people.

When going up against black magic and monsters, a plan was more of a loose collection of hopes and dreams.
