Inspired by the now defunct Fantasy Is More Fun and by The Geeky Blogger's Book Blog, I decided a few years ago to track my book expenses. I'll do a wrap up post at the end of each month.
I've given myself $10 real money each month to spend on books, whether for myself or as gifts, and blog giveaways. "Real money" being cash from my bank account as opposed to gift cards and store credits. Books that I borrowed from the library or a friend, and books received for review do not count against my purchases though I'll track them here as books acquired.

Clearly, I need to slow down the next month or two and read the books I have in my possession. I have read 26 books this month so I made some headway on the TBR Mountain of Doom.

This is such a great idea! I tend to get a lot of Amazon gift cards so my goal is always not to spend beyond my gift card balance. I do sometimes buy books on Audible or locally. I like the idea of keeping track on a monthly basis. Lots of great books here!
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. My intent is it will keep my accountable, and help me focus on books I already own.
Deletesuch a good idea! I only spent £4 this month because i got a few books for christmas! Buying books is my weakness, but i hate having books on my shelf that i havent read for so long!

I need to do better at reading what I own. Spending only 4 pounds is pretty darn good, go you!
DeleteThis is such a great idea. I rarely buy books anymore as I haven't been reading as much and am just getting back into blogging. I tend to get a lot of my books from the library as I don't have an e-reader anymore. I think this is a great way to keep yourself accountable.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Did you finish school?
DeleteWhat an interesting take on a book haul :) wow, is that a lot though! I hope you read fast, haha :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I need to slow down so I can read and enjoy what I have.
DeleteThat's quite the haul. It's amazing how it can add up over a couple weeks. Hope you enjoy them all :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to slow down; January was crazy. I've read and enjoyed quite a few already.
