Sunday Book Share #139 Stressed and Tired

http://www.talksupeblog.com/search/label/Bought%20Borrowed%20and%20Bagged

I'm participating in The Sunday Post, hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer; Showcase Sunday hosted by Books, Biscuits and Tea; Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews; and Bought Borrowed and Bagged, hosted by TalkSupe. All of these memes are about sharing the print and digital books received and/or posts and events on the blog.

So as you know from last week's post, I have family stuff going on, and I wasn't online much last week. Most of my reviews didn't happen. I have a lot planned for this week but I still have to get most of it ready and I'm behind now. Heck, much of this week's schedule may not happen.

In short, my father is dying. Last weekend it seemed imminent so I flew to my dad and stepmother's house. The priest came and did Last Rites but as of Saturday morning when I'm typing this, dad is still hanging in. I'm back in my home now, jumping every time the phone rings or a new text message beeps. So, if I go quiet or posts don't show up, you know why.

The Last 2 Weeks In Review

Odd, interesting, or funny search phrases leading to the blog:  These are just from the past week - "westward to strange", "perspective of a dog story", and "short story from a dog's perspective". Interestingly, these all relate to one author, J.A. Campbell, though two different series.

Review

Did you add any books to your shelves or e-readers in the last two weeks? Leave a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit you during the week, family matters permitting.

Thanks for visiting and happy reading! :)

  1. So sorry for you, Bea! I didn't realize what was going on when you said you were going to visit your parents and I thought it was just for a friendly visit :(

Prayers and good thoughts being sent your way to deal with your father's declining health. I'm not even going to get into books with you today, just know you are being thought of at this moment.

  7. I am deeply sorry to hear about your dad. My grandpa is facing his own mortality as well. I don't know how much longer he has but it hurts my heart. Please know you're in my thoughts.

  8. I am sorry to hear of your father's illness. My Dad died in 1999 and I don't think it is something you get over. You just learn to live with the losses that come in life.
Grief was the first experience I had that I realized one cannot get around it; you can only go through it. And the logistics of these events are never easy. Planning for the eventuality of having to take care of things at home while off to attend to necessities can feel strange, anticipatory of something we cannot want to go through. It does eventually get better but life is never the same.

  12. My heart goes out to you Bea. It has to be hard being away from him. Don't worry about the blog, do what you can especially if it helps occupy your thoughts ..but the blog and all of us aren't going anywhere.
