I'm reading an urban fantasy, "Kitty's Greatest Hits", by Carrie Vaughn; it collects short stories set in her Kitty Norville world that have been published elsewhere and two new stories. The quote is from page 56  in the hardcover.

Catherine knelt and began to pray, Pater Noster and Ave Maria, and her lips stumbled trying to get out all the words at once.

    1. This would have a lot of spoilers for the series but it is a nice introduction.

  8. It doesn't sound like Catherine is having a good day. I haven't heard much about Carrie Vaughn so I'll have to check out her books.

  9. I rarely read fantasy so I'd need to know more about this book before deciding whether or not to buy it. The excerpt makes me curious, though.
