I love Jessica Scott's books and this, "Until There Was You", was one of the first I read. It's a military romance and emotions are intense between  the couple, Claire and Evan. In this scene, Evan is realizing just how much he wants Claire and also how well he understands her.

A distant rumbling moved closer. Claire tensed, her breath gentle huffs against his skin. Evan eased back, pressing his lips against her jaw, wanting so much more but afraid to move and chase her away.  Because if there was one thing he'd learned about Claire Montoyal, it was that she was a hell of a lot more skittish than he'd ever imagined. The overwhelming urge he had to protect her would only make her angry and drive her farther away.

And while the thought of her eyes flashing with anger turned him on, he wanted her desire, not her fury. It stunned him, how fiercely he wanted this woman. Wanted her in a way he hadn't allowed himself to want a woman in...ever.

Have you read any of Jessica's books? Which is your favorite?
