Not much to say about last week, it was quiet. I worked a lot, have begun looking for a new car, and read. That was it. :D Oh, and I finally got my new TV working (except for the DVD player, grr). I bought a streaming stick and now I can watch NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Videos, and even YouTube on my TV. The device I bought also has lots of other channels I can watch, most for free, and I'm just starting to play with those.

I...failed at not acquiring new books last week. Some arrived unsolicited in the mail, one begged to come home with me, there were some Kindle Daily Deals I couldn't pass up, a pre-order arrived...you know how it goes.

for visiting and happy reading! :)
Yay for a new TV! I need to learn about these streaming sticks and how they work...
ReplyDeleteTaunt The Octopus has an awesome cover, and How To Write a Novel looks good too.
I don't have cable so the streaming stick is handy.I was tired of watching NetFlix, etc. on my 7" tablet.
DeleteYay new car! That's super exciting. Have you decided what you might want to get?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous books this week. Not familiar with them, but the covers look fascinating!!
My STtS
Something cheap and reliable as my budget is pretty much non-existent.. Other than that, I don't care. :D
DeleteI have wanted to get rid of cable but my family almost killed me when I suggested it. I have the Roku stick and it is pretty neat, I am the only one that watches it but I enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your new reads!
Have a great week, Bea! Happy Reading! <3 oxox
Mine is the Roku stick also. I do miss some of the cable channels but I'm pretty happy with what I have now and it's so much cheaper than cable.
DeleteHave a good week!
Awesome week. I have Netflix, but still haven't learn how to transfer it to the main TV in the living room. Oh well. I hope you love all your new books.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
You need a streaming device, I have a Roku stick, and a TV that's internet compatible.
DeleteOur DVD player accesses Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video too; since we gave up cable, that's how we watch. And a new car - how exciting! Any idea what you'll be looking at?
ReplyDeleteOh, I do indeed know how it goes! The Hidden was good. I've got both Move Your Blooming Corpse and Thoreau in Phantom Bog - I couldn't resist that one because of the Underground Railroad references. I grew up Quaker (they were very involved in the underground railroad) and went to college in a town that was a stop on the railroad - there is a sculpture on campus of railroad tracks emerging from the ground into the air, to commemorated it. I've always been really interested in the people and stories of the underground railroad, so the book was irresistible.
Have a great week!
The Thoreau book begged to come home with me. :D The Underground Railroad fascinates me; I'm looking forward to learning more about it. Your campus sculpture sounds neat, I'd love to see it.
DeleteHave a great week!
I loved discovering that I could get a Blu-Ray player that streamed Netflix, etc. Before, I was hooking my laptop up to the TV via an HDMI cable...and while it wasn't really that annoying to do, I like just sitting down and turning it on. Lazy much? LOL
ReplyDeleteMy eldest son is looking for a car, too; he and his wife are visiting from Europe and will be here for three months. So far, not finding much. They just want a used car that can handle road trips.
Good luck on your search, which, I am sure, is for something more permanent.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Good luck to your son with his car search. I'm also looking for cheap but something that will last long term.
DeleteA couple people have mentioned they have a DVD or Blue-ray player that streams. Maybe that'll be my next tech purchase.
Have a good week!
Yay for the streaming stick! And it's a Roku, too! We have the Roku box and love it. We had one from 2009 when we dropped DirecTv and only replaced it earlier this year because it was finally crapping out on us. I haven't explored nearly enough of the free channels yet. That's on my To Do list. lol Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteMine is a Roku stick. So far, I love it! Movies FTW!
DeleteThe Delivery looks interesting! Hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteI just started reading Heather Graham, so I'm all for trying that new title out.
ReplyDeleteYay for quiet weeks when we can just watch tv and read without interruption. Hope work is going well. Have a good weekend.
Quiet weeks are good indeed. :) I hope you like the Graham books. Have a good week!
DeleteYour search terms always crack me up! Yay for new books! I have The Hidden and I really want to try out DE Ireland. We're moving bedrooms around and turning the oldest's into her room/guest room because she lives full time in the town her college is at. I had thought about getting a streaming stick for the TV in there because I didn't want to pay for another cable box. I've heard good things about the Amazon Fire stick but I saw Roku has one too. We have a Roku box and like it so I may go with that one. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have the Roku stick and I like it. Streaming is a good cable alternative, especially for a guest room. I was excited to be asked to review the Ireland book as the reviews of the first one made it sound good.
DeleteYeah, the search terms give me a giggle too.
Have a great week!
You are going to have some fun TV viewing coming up.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy both your TV and reading! Have a great week!
Thanks Yvonne, you too!
DeleteSeems like I do better at resisting books when I'm not on a No Buy Ban than when I'm on one, so might have to try that again. But can totally understand your selections, as you've picked some great titles! Enjoy your new TV!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I had no will power last week. Maybe I should tell myself I can buy and see if I resist. :D
DeleteAren't streaming sticks amazing?? I personally use an Apple TV box (same premise, it just works better because I use mostly Apple products so they all work together well) I hope you enjoy all the books you got this week too!
ReplyDeleteHere is my StS
Justin @ Justin's Book Blog
I'm loving it so far.
DeleteThanks for visiting!
Quiet is good and those sticks are awesome! Enjoy the next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too!
DeleteI'm really digging the look of four of these books and have added them to my wishlist - The Delivery, The Shadow Revolution, Please Do Not Taunt the Octopus, and Prison of Hope - well or the first in the series ;) haha. 'grats on your giveaway win too!
ReplyDeleteOh yay, I love hearing that someone has added books as a result of a post of mine. If you get them, I hope you enjoy them.
DeleteShadow Revolution sounds good, hope you enjoy it and the rest of your books. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brandi!
DeleteThe publisher said they sent Waterborne Blade last Friday, I hope you get it soon!
ReplyDeleteI received a copy of Waterborne Exile by Susan Murray, maybe they sent the wrong book? I assumed it was an unsolicited review book, which I forgot to list on here. :D
DeleteI've never heard of a streaming stick. Interesting! Hope you're able to find the car your looking for. That can be an eye twitcher.
ReplyDeleteNo? Never heard of Chromecast or Amazon's Fire stick? It's a handy device for sure, especially if you don't have cable or local channels.
DeleteA new car? Very exciting! Good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in "How to write a novel" and must check that out!
It's actually a YA/MG book; the title is slightly misleading.
DeleteThe Shadow Revolution looks like something I'd enjoy. And a quiet week isn't a bad thing. ;) Hope you have a good one this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks, you too!
DeleteHa! some of those search terms a just so bizzare aren't they?
ReplyDeleteNice books this week and I hope you enjoy them and your week.
They sure are, lol. Have a good week!
DeleteGood luck on the car hunting! Glad to see you have your TV up and running! Enjoy your new reads!
ReplyDeleteNaomi @ Naomi’s Reading Palace
Thanks Naomi!
DeleteA new TV can be so difficult in the beginning! With the channels not being where you're used to them being etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll find the perfect car this week, Bea :)
Your new books look great, and I hope you'll enjoy them all.
Have a fantastic week and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Well, I don't have any channels except what the streaming stick provides but yes, learning new technology has a definite learning curve.
DeleteThe Shadow Revolution looks really good. And streaming sticks are the best invention ever. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving mine!
DeleteI have been looking into some streaming things like the roku for my TV viewing pleasure as I am not real happy with DirecTV right now. I could subscribe to some things on there and it be less than my current bill for channels I only watch half of. :(
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to grab books and I don't blame you for go off and picking up Heather Graham and Terry Spears. :)
Stormi
It's definitely cheaper than cable and you have more control over what you pay for. The Graham and Spears were hard to resist but I'm sure they'll be worth it.
DeleteNew TV sounds fantastic, I thinking about getting Netflix as it has too many good things I can't get through normal tv.
ReplyDeleteLoads of good books too and well done on your win!
Have a great week.
Heather | Random Redheaded Ramblings
Thanks, you too!
DeleteYeah, peaceful is nice to have once in a while. :)
