Blurb from goodreads:
Thorne Manor has always been haunted…and it has always haunted Bronwyn Dale. As a young girl, Bronwyn could pass through a time slip in her great-aunt's house, where she visited William Thorne, a boy her own age, born two centuries earlier. After a family tragedy, the house was shuttered and Bronwyn was convinced that William existed only in her imagination.
Now, twenty years later Bronwyn inherits Thorne Manor. And when she returns, William is waiting. William Thorne is no longer the boy she remembers. He’s a difficult and tempestuous man, his own life marred by tragedy and a scandal that had him retreating to self-imposed exile in his beloved moors. He’s also none too pleased with Bronwyn for abandoning him all those years ago.
As their friendship rekindles and sparks into something more, Bronwyn must also deal with ghosts in the present version of the house. Soon she realizes they are linked to William and the secret scandal that drove him back to Thorne Manor. To build a future, Bronwyn must confront the past.
I am a huge fan of Kelley’s so when she offered up free codes on her Facebook page in exchange for an honest review, I jumped on it.
I have not had much time for reading lately because my son is doing virtual learning and needs help. I have found I am able to listen to audiobooks while I am at work. I started this one at work and then continued it in the car on the way home and listened once I got home. It was that good.
Bronwyn Dale found a slip in the fabric of time when she was a young girl visiting her great aunt. She went back and would visit William Thorne, a young man who had lived about 200 years earlier. Tragedy struck one night, and she never went back.
Twenty years later, she inherits the house and finds she can still travel back in time. William isn’t too pleased to see her at first, but their friendship and love reignite. Most of the book is spent with William and Bronwyn catching up on the 20 years they were apart. While all this is going on, Bronwyn realizes that she can see ghosts that haunt the house, and she finds herself solving a centuries old mystery.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. The mystery portion and the love story are both equally important and I enjoyed both parts. The romance moves pretty slow so be prepared that they do not jump in bed with each other right away. I did get slightly frustrated at the end of the mystery part but it resolved itself fairly quickly, so keep reading.
One of the things I liked most about Bronwyn is that she isn’t a 20-something character. She is a woman in her late 30’s. She has a lifetime of love, loss, success and tragedy behind her. I didn’t meet my hubby until I was 37, so I love it when authors remember that this isn’t the 1800’s and women can and do find love in their 30’s.

The narrator can make or break an audio book. Samantha is one of the good ones. She really brought the characters to life and her voice is very soothing. I will be adding her to the list of narrators I look for in audiobooks.
I love time travel, and a huge fan of Kelley as well. This is such an interesting take, though. And a ghost story to boot!
ReplyDeleteLovely review!
I finally read this one, although I own it. I love KA but wasn't sure about time travel. I really enjoyed it and exactly the fact of the maturity with which Bronwyn deals with things honestly.
