Friday Book Memes: Breaking Silence by Linda Castillo

I'm participating in two Friday book memes, Book Beginnings On Fridays, hosted by Rose City Reader, and The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice.

Every Friday, share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.

For the Friday 56, grab a book, any book. Turn to Page 56, or 56% on your ereader. If you have to improvise, that's okay. Find a snippet, short and sweet. Post it, and add the url to your post at the link here.

My sister K got me into reading this series; I've been downloading them from my library. There are about twelve in the series and each one has had a wait list. It's apparently quite popular! This is the third book and like the others it's dark and grisly. This one had some a dark topic but was engrossing nonetheless. It kept me up until about 4AM.

The dogs were going to be a problem.

Not the most gripping start but it did whet my curiosity, and rouse my concern for the dogs. They were not harmed.

The quote is from page 56  in the ebook.

"I need you to spot me."
Pickles looks alarmed. "Chief, with all due respect..."
"Get your gloves. Lower me down."
He looks at me as if he's just been told he'll be facing execution by firing squad.

Please share in the comments the book you are reading or a link to your quote post..

    1. I should probably put my name on the library list for that one. I imagine it's a long list already.
