Buy this book for any young female - straight, gay, genderqueer, etc - in your life. Let them see what females around the world through time have done. Inspire them and give them hope.

"Rad Girls Can" gives mini biographies of girls and young women who have done amazing things in a variety of fields - politics, sports, the arts, war, science, etc. Some of the girls are familiar to us, such as Ruby Bridges, Helen Keller, and Mary Shelley, while others my be less well-known, such as Cordelia Longo, Elizabeth Cotten, and Princess Ping Yang. While most are drawn from approximately the last hundred years, Schatz and Stahl pull a few from farther back in history. The selection of women is from around the world, though America and the Western world have the most representation and all have overcome challenges or hardships to change the world.

With a resource list and suggestions on how to make a difference, "Rad Girls Can" is an engaging, readable trip through time that shines a light on females who lit the way and their contemporary successors, and is a source of inspiration for today's young girls, and women.
