Inspired by Fantasy Is More Fun and The Geeky Blogger's Book Blog, I decided to start tracking my book expenses this year. I'll do a wrap up post at the end of each month.
I've given myself $10 real money each month to spend on books whether for myself, as gifts, or blog giveaways. "Real money" being cash from my bank account as opposed to gift cards and store credits. I am counting money spent to ship giveaways and Paperbackswap.com books. Books from my personal shelves, borrowed from the library or a friend, and books received for review do not count against my purchases.

I had an excellent month for freebies. :D A lot of the review books that came in were in my Avon Addicts package. Moneywise, I went over my cash budget for the year but did well in the other areas. I'll be revising my cash budget for 2016 now that I'm working full-time again. :)

You got some great books for December! I'm a big fan of Julia Quinn and several of the other authors you picked up. It sounds like even though you went over cashwise it wasn't out of control. Good luck with your budget for 2016!
ReplyDeleteThanks! My cash spending was pretty good for most of the year. I knew that that those last couple of giveaways would push me over and chose to go ahead with them.
DeleteEvery year I say I'm going to do this and then don't. Maybe I'll try it this year. You got a lot of great books. I hope you enjoy Thor's Serpents. I know I did. Happy New Years. Here's to a great 2016.

It's really helped me to track my spending and my book acquisitions.
DeleteHappy New Year!
Love haul of Gift cards! They are my fav pressie. I really enjoyed The Handmaiden's Tale and hope you do too.
ReplyDeleteYou may have spent a little more than you planned in cash, but it looks like you'll be starting the New Year with a ton of Amazon money - what a treat! I got a $20 gift certificate from Amazon, so I'm trying to decide what to spend it on. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou got some amazing books, too. Geek Parenting sounds like fun; I can't wait for your review! I should have put the Avon Addicts books on my Sunday Post, but since I'm not home, I haven't had a chance to open the box yet! I'll get home next Sunday, so they will go in the S.P. after that...
