I worked four days last week and it felt strange after being out of work for several months. :D It was a less eventful week, no more outbreaks of lice, but the quiet was nice. It's a smaller school than my old one, not quite half the size, so learning who all of the kids and staff are isn't too hard. So far, things are going well. :) It was a quiet week overall, just one shift at Habitat and life on the home front was quiet. Now, books....books were not quiet; they got a little crazy last week. :D

Odd, interesting, or funny search phrases leading to the blog: "brian michaud monday" - ?? I've had author Anne Michaud on the blog several times but no clue who Brian Michaud is; "cute cat thursday" :) and "dusty 2 arc read", that might be related to a meme I participated in several years ago.

It was a really good week for books but a really bad week for my will power. I had none. *hangs head*
Won
The book fairy was feeling generous last week and I won several different giveaways. Squee!
I won this from My ParaHangover in her Something Wicked Strikes giveaway. Woot!
Sarah at Smart Bitches was giving away copies of this book and I was one of the winners. I'd actually forgotten that I entered so the email was a very nice surprise indeed! The book's been on my wish list for months and now I have it!
This has been on my wish list for several years so I was bouncing when I got the email telling me I'd won. :D And then the author, Carolyn, sent a super nice, uber-chirpy email along with the book. I smiled so hard reading her email.
Thanks ladies!

Review
This is for a blog tour in January.
NetGalley was my downfall last week, especially the READ NOW titles. I had to join NetGalley November just so I can get my ratio back up. I returned a couple books which lowered my ratio and then I went and downloaded more books, which further lowered my ratio. Sigh. Also, the Sandy James books? TOTALLY the fault of Anna at Herding Cats. She raved about the books, I put them on my wish list, and then NG made them READ NOW. Will power, I no haz it.
I enjoyed the first story in the Rogue River serial but, being part of a serial, it ended on a cliffhanger. Argh! So I snagged books two and three.
I was surprised my request for the Carriger book was approved since they rejected me for the first two books but hey, I'll take it! Wolves' Bane will appear first at Romance at Random, then here, in January.

Lucky week Bea, prizes are always nice. Glad the work week was quiet. Oh I have Sandy Jones on my wishlist, I look forward to your thoughts. Hope this week is a good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
DeleteIt was a lucky week for me indeed. I'll let you know about the James books; I'm looking forward to them.
Ooh, I'm green with envy that you have The Look of Love. I love this author's work...and this one seems different than the others. Hopefully it will be just as good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week and your new job.
I thought of you when the book arrived in my mailbox. :) I've been wanting to try her and now I can.
DeleteThanks, and have a good week.
So glad that you are enjoying your job! Lice outbreaks are the worst. I remember when I was in elementary school we all got it once. Nightmare.
ReplyDeleteYep, lice are such a nuisance. I'm so glad this was a small outbreak; it could have been worse.
DeleteSounds like a good week, and quiet is good. :) The Look of Love looks like a fun read. Also the new Mira Grant book- that sounds interesting. That cover is a little scary though.
ReplyDelete"a little scary" - yep, that's a Mira book. Okay, her books are a lot scary but so darn good.
DeleteBwahaha those "read nows" can totally get ya. Hope you enjoy those! And yay for work going well. It sounds like a nice spot to be :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice spot so far. And YOU are hazardous for my TBR pile. :D
DeleteReally was your lucky week! Enjoy all your wins and some of those read-nows look fab so I can see how you fell! Plus I know just how luring NG is :) Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteIt was :) and NG is such a temptation.
DeleteI understand work part completely - I agreed to cover friend in her school because she had some personal obligations. It was as if I never stopped working at the same time, but on the other hand I was physically and emotionally drained - I was in bed before 11. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been much more tired since returning to work but that's a good reason to be tired. :)
DeleteI think it's so cool you write for Romance at Random!!! I love seeing someone I "know" in the newsletters or on the website!
ReplyDeleteEee, gads... working again... a two headed dragon! You need the money but it's so hard to get back into it. But you feel good after doing it. Yay for finding a job, though!!!!!!
Here's to another fabulous week... sans ice!!
Oh yay. I wondered if anybody read my reviews over there. :)
DeleteYes, working is a two-year Dragon but I'd missed it.
Thanks Kristin!
Wow...busy book week! I'm off to find out more about the Sarah Jio novel.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday post: http://www.bookclublibrarian.com/2014/11/weekly-book-recap-87.html
It really was. :D The Jio book sounds different from her usual writing. I hope you like it.
DeleteThe new Jio book!!!! I loved Goodnight June! Looks like you had a great week of books and a great week otherwise. Glad there was no lice outbreak again! I love your search terms. I can see why "dusty 2 ARC reads" would end up here but why would anyone search on that? Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight June is on my wishlist, so I'm hopeful that I'll enjoy this one. I did have a pretty good week. I hope it continues. The search terms can be funny at times.
DeleteI know the feeling of being out of work for awhile and then suddenly thrown back into the swing of things. It's hard to get used to.
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to read books by Jio for awhile, but still haven't gotten around to it. This looks good.
It's an adjustment for sure but a good one. The Jio book does look good, we'll see. :)
DeleteSounds like a good work week and you're getting into the swing of it again. Congrats on your wins this week, A Bollywood Affair sounds good as does Melinda Leigh books, and the new Sarah Jio book, yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita :)
DeleteI'm reading Kill Em With Cayenne and enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear your new job is going well and no more pesky lice. Just typing that made my head itch. LOL
You had some great wins this week. Some fun reads ahead:)
Here's my Sunday Post - http://fuonlyknew.com/2014/11/02/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-85-and-the-sunday-post/
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it :) I'm looking forward to reading it.
DeleteThanks :)
Congrats on your lucky week! Enjoy your new reads!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa :)
DeleteLice? Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI got W&W, I wish I read that instead of the one I just featured today.
Happy week ahead!
Yeah lice are not my idea of fun.
DeleteHave a good week. :)
You need to rub off on me since I never win anything lol.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job, lice is awful, I had that when I was a kid my mom said it was a nightmare since I had a head of really curly hair and she had to comb through each strand, got it from the neighbors next door. Guess who wasn't allowed to play with them anymore ;)
Have a great week Bea!!!
I wish I could share my luck; I would if I could.
DeleteUgh, that's rotten. :(
Thanks, you too.
Great books for you this week! I hope you enjoy them.
