Blurb from goodreads:
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...preferably in bed. That's always been Kingsley Edge's strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it's Kingsley's chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he's ever wanted -- Søren, Nora's on-again, off-again lover -- until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and she's in "his" world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren's relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make... unless someone makes it for her....

Jax's thoughts:

In each of the previous books, Nora is without a doubt in the middle of everything, but she plays the part of kinky godmother. In on all the fun, but ultimately not part of the HEA. You can feel the pull of Soren, the rock and foundation of her world. You just know that she will end up happily ever after at his feet.

Until suddenly she's not. Wes is not a character that I've brought up in past reviews, because he didn't play a central role to the story. But he does have central role in Nora's life. Wes is a college student. He lives in her home, helping as her personal assistant and dearest...friend, confidant, prey and torturer. She loves him in ways that strain her ability to define. Utterly vanilla, he knows of her other life but cannot understand it. Faced with losing him, she tries things his way. Forsaking Soren, The Underground and her darker instincts, Nora follows him to Kentucky.

In this book, we also get a deeper look at Soren. (Can you see my grin from there? Thanks and praise to his creator, the lovely Tiffany Reisz.) In case you haven't seen the previous reviews, let me remind you again that this is BDSM erotica and her motto is "It's not erotica until someone gets hurt." He and Kingsley play rough. Just sayin'.

Griffin and Michael are my favorite couple of this series. But this is the paring that makes my heart ache. Kingsley, like Wes, has been an integral part of the series. He just hasn't been part of the HEA. He's one of Nora's best friends, but there's always a tension there too. I never entirely understood it until now.

These books can be read just for fun, some steamy erotica. But they also have a beautiful complexity to them, with the power to make you think. I highly recommend these books, to pretty much anyone.

  2. Yes! Praise God for Soren :))) That's all I'm saying. I'll take Kingsley in a pinch too.
