The cover of this book immediately caught my eye. I love to see and hear children playing music and even make noise. Look at that face, how happy she looks as she bangs on her drum. What a great message to give children.
The book starts with Sage playing on her drum then she stops and listens to her surroundings. Sage finds music in her environment and incorporates it into her own music. The book does a nice job of encouraging children both to listen and to make music.The artwork is bright and cheerful but not obnoxiously so and there are lots of motion words to catch a toddlers attention and encourage them to move. It's a lively, thoughtful story about music, listening and paying attention. Young kids will enjoy the artwork and the words while adults will appreciate the message.
It sounds super cute. My daughter loves to read, and is constantly walking around singing. I think books like this are fantastic.

DeleteThe cover is charming -- and makes me remember our daughter's "trumpet" (in reality a kazoo.) I did eventually have to put it up out of reach -- for my own sanity! But she certainly enjoyed making music in whatever way she could -- and still does. She sings and plays the violin.
