I'm participating in two Friday book memes, Book Beginnings On Fridays, hosted by Rose City Reader, and The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice.
This week's book is Tightrope by Amanda Quick, a romantic mystery set in 1920s California. I'll be reading it over this long holiday weekend.
Book Beginnings Rules:
Every Friday, share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires. Please remember to include the title of the book and the author’s name.
Well, that's an attention grabber! I want to read more.

"Fly for me, Princess," the killer said. "If you fly, I'll let you live."
Well, that's an attention grabber! I want to read more.

*Turn to Page 56 or 56% on your ereader. If you have to improvise, that is okay.

Sounds right to me. I loathe that line and that attitude; it's so condescending.
Both lines are interesting and I would definitely want to read more. Great cover too.
ReplyDeleteI love that the cover directly ties into the story! That's so rare these days.
DeleteSounds so good and I love that cover! I added you to the Linky. Happy Memorial day weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteKrentz/Quick is a master of the opening line, isn't she? And this book was decidedly fun.
ReplyDeleteI finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it. She does have some excellent opening lines.
DeleteI've read the first book in the series. I haven't read this one yet, but it looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteThey are all stand alones, loosely connected so you can jumjp in anywhere in the series.
DeleteIt's been a long time since I read Amanda Quick. This looks good.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be late. This one was good. It has all her usual spark, wit, and tight plotting.
