Inspired by Fantasy Is More Fun and The Geeky Blogger's Book Blog, I decided to start tracking my book expenses this year. I'll do a wrap up post at the end of each month.
I've given myself $10 real money each month to spend on books, whether for myself, as gifts, or blog giveaways. "Real money" being cash from my bank account as opposed to gift cards and store credits. I am counting money spent to ship giveaways and Paperbackswap.com books. Books from my personal shelves, borrowed from the library or a friend, and books received for review do not count against my purchases.

So, for the month I spent no cash, $8 in Amazon GC, and 1 Paperbackswap.com credit for 6 books plus I read 4 books from the library, got 20 for review, 7 freebies and 2 that I won. I also read 5 of my own books. I'm doing well though I still need to slow down the intake of new books.

Wow you got loads of great books. I really need to kerb my spending in the last 2 weeks alone I have spent £40 on books. My bank balance can't take it. Lol.

It's easy to do, books add up so quickly. Good luck curbing your spending.
DeleteEach paycheck I get I set a little aside for money for books...most of the other stuff I save and invest, but books are my splurge every month...I love seeing more books added to my shelves. But its close to $100 a month and that includes audio, e books and paperback. But it tends to fluctuate depending on the deals I can find.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish I could set aside that much. It is fun seeing more books added to our shelves, knowing that no matter our mood we have something to suit it. :)
DeleteLots of wonderful books their Bea. Great idea with this post to keep track of funds. Buying books gets $$ and so hard to not over spend especially if you are a book lover. I've saved $120 by borrowing from my library.
