Blurb from goodreads:
Home for the holidays…
Sierra O’Brien and Carter Grove have a lot of history—and regrets between them. Their high school romance didn’t survive after he went away to college. Despite tremendous business success, Carter never found another woman like Sierra and has two failed marriages to prove it. Sierra’s luck wasn’t much better, but after being widowed, she heads back to Bliss to plan her future. The last thing either expected was to run into each other or to reconnect to the magic that once drew them together.
Can Sierra and Carter make it work this time or are they doomed to repeat the past and let the same mistakes drive them apart? In Bliss, the inexplicable is an everyday occurrence, and anything is possible—especially during a blue moon.
Bea's Thoughts:
"Blue Moon Over Bliss Lake" is a contemporary romance with just a hint of magic near the end. It's a second chance romance with former high school lovers reuniting. Masters has a simple, clean style that I like; she skips the fancy prose and gives sharp, clean writing.
Sierra's husband died and she's reinventing her life, chasing her dreams while helping out her parents in her hometown. Carter takes a detour to Bliss after running into Sierra while on a business trip. He discovers that Bliss isn't quite as boring as he thought while growing up. His family are surprised but happy to see him as he hasn't been home in years. Of course, he's there to chase Sierra who initially doesn't want to be caught.
Sierra and Carter are both likable and I enjoyed Carter's tenaciousness in pursuing Sierra. He wasn't obnoxious but he was persistent. I was less thrilled with the fact that he was still married. Yes, he was n the process of a divorce but I'm old-fashioned about marriage vows. You just don't fool around while you're still married. Plus he really should have breathing room between relationships, it's healthier.
Despite that problem and some odd pacing at times I did enjoy the romance and the story. I like Masters and will keep reading her.
I think I would have an issue with that too....still in the middle of a second divorce? That would be the time to let things settle a bit before jumping in again.
