I Own Too Many Books by These Authors, LOL

Several weeks ago, some of the blogs I follow participated in a meme, Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. The topic was Top Ten Authors I Own the Most Books By. While I don't participate in that meme, the topic piqued my interest and I decided to look at my shelves and see which authors I owned the most books of. So, thank you The Broke and The Bookish for inspiring this post!

It took me a while to go through all of my books as I don't have all of my print books catalogued. Thanks to this post, I've now added many of them. :) There were a few surprises; there were several authors I was sure I owned more books than I do and some that surprised me with how many I actually own. There were a few series that I used to own the entire set but got rid of, such as the Anita Blake books by Laurell K Hamilton and the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.

So, in reverse order, the authors whose books I own the most of:

Charles de Lint: 7 A surprise, I was sure I had more than this.

Mercedes Lackey: 8 print, all are set in her Elvish UF worlds

Ruthie Knox: Including ARCs, I have 9

Tanya Huff: 9 print books - the Blood books and the Summoning books though I've read a few others

Jessica Scott: Counting print, digital, and ARCs I have 10 books. :)

Bella Andre: With print, digital, and ARCs, I have 11 books. This was one that surprised me; I didn't realize how many of hers I had. I've read about half.

Dorothy Gilman: 12 books, all print

J.A. Campbell: 11 digital books plus line edits for a 12th

JRR Tolkien: Counting print, digital, and graphic novels, I have 13 books; most are different editions of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

Lynn Kurland: 13 print & digital books, her romances, not her fantasy

Jodi Redford: 13 digital books and ARCS

Sharyn McCrumb: 18 print books, several different series

Krista Ball/K Ball/K.B. Galore/John Reynolds (I really wish she'd pick one name and stick with it! :D): 21 print, digital and ARC books

Cara Covington/Morgan Ashbury: 10 Ashburys & 11 Covingtons for 21 print & digital books

Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant: Counting print, digital, and ARCs, I have 13 McGuires & 11 Grants for 24 books

Dick Francis: 25 print books

Anne McCaffrey: 27 print, a few of her romances but mostly her sci fi books.

Nora Roberts/JD Robb:  Including print & digital, I have 31 JD Robbs & 6 Roberts for a total of 37

Patricia Briggs:  Counting print, digital, ARCs, and graphic novels I have 37 books; some are duplicates.

And the winner is................................

Kelley Armstrong: Counting print, digital, ARCs, and graphic novels I have 55 books; some are duplicates.

I didn't comb all of my digital books, so I may have missed some authors but this is a pretty accurate representation of what I read. These authors alone count for almost 500 books. According to goodreads, I have over 3000 books and there are still many books that I haven't cataloged.

  3. Hehe, I think with Kelley Armstrong it's only natural to have huge pile of books she is that prolific:) I really enjoyed reading about your top 10, Bea!

    1. I'm glad. :)

Kelley is prolific and what's scary is that I don't everything she's put out. O_0

  4. This looks fun! It makes me want to go through my bookshelf and see which author is most represented. The number of Krista Ball names surprised me. I've never heard of an author changing her name that much! :)

  6. Lots of authors I want to try and several I have books waiting for me to read! I think my list would be Agatha Christie, Patricia Wentworth, Nora Roberts and Julia Quinn for the most and probably Jenn McKinley, Sheila Connolly and Jill Shalvis in the secondary category. I' should go through my bookcases and Kindle!

    1. It's worth going through! You can catalog/update your catalog and it's interesting to see what you have and what you don't.

I have one Shalvis book, unread, a couple Christies, unread, and many Roberts',as you saw, oh and one Connolly, but none of the rest.

  7. This is a great topic. I should really look at my shelves and see whom I horde. :D I know I have a lot of duplicates with certain authors because I always wind up winning or getting signed copies after I've already read a book. lol

    1. I've had that happen but most of my duplicates are because I bought extra copies of my faves.

  9. I have a lot of Bella's too. I think my most is Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz. At least 50 of hers. Then JD Robb I'm sitting around 40 with the anthos. Crazy.

  10. Wow! That sounds a lot like my shelves/Kindle collection, but my highest is either Mercedes Lackey or Agatha Christie. I'm starting to build up a pretty big Krentz/Quick/Castle collection, too!
