Sunday Book Share #150

http://www.talksupeblog.com/search/label/Bought%20Borrowed%20and%20Bagged

I'm participating in The Sunday Post, hosted by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer; Showcase Sunday hosted by Books, Biscuits and Tea; Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga's Reviews; and Bought Borrowed and Bagged, hosted by TalkSupe. All of these memes are about sharing the print and digital books received and/or posts and events on the blog.

Not much to say about last week, it was quiet. I worked a lot, have begun looking for a new car, and read. That was it. :D Oh, and I finally got my new TV working (except for the DVD player, grr). I bought a streaming stick and now I can watch NetFlix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Videos, and even YouTube on my TV. The device I bought also has lots of other channels I can watch, most for free, and I'm just starting to play with those.

The Week In Review

Odd, interesting, or funny search phrases leading to the blog:  "amazon mary bradley books up the creek", "bestial breed 3d" (umm, what?), "dog blog written from a dogs perspective", "thank you note from a dog perspective", and "knitting patterns with initials"

I...failed at not acquiring new books last week. Some arrived unsolicited in the mail, one begged to come home with me, there were some Kindle Daily Deals I couldn't pass up, a pre-order arrived...you know how it goes.

Taunt The Octopus has an awesome cover, and How To Write a Novel looks good too.

    1. I don't have cable so the streaming stick is handy.I was tired of watching NetFlix, etc. on my 7" tablet.

    1. Something cheap and reliable as my budget is pretty much non-existent.. Other than that, I don't care. :D

  3. I have wanted to get rid of cable but my family almost killed me when I suggested it. I have the Roku stick and it is pretty neat, I am the only one that watches it but I enjoy it :)

    Enjoy all your new reads!

    1. Mine is the Roku stick also. I do miss some of the cable channels but I'm pretty happy with what I have now and it's so much cheaper than cable.

      Have a good week!

  4. Awesome week. I have Netflix, but still haven't learn how to transfer it to the main TV in the living room. Oh well. I hope you love all your new books.

    1. You need a streaming device, I have a Roku stick, and a TV that's internet compatible.

  5. Our DVD player accesses Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video too; since we gave up cable, that's how we watch. And a new car - how exciting! Any idea what you'll be looking at?

Oh, I do indeed know how it goes! The Hidden was good. I've got both Move Your Blooming Corpse and Thoreau in Phantom Bog - I couldn't resist that one because of the Underground Railroad references. I grew up Quaker (they were very involved in the underground railroad) and went to college in a town that was a stop on the railroad - there is a sculpture on campus of railroad tracks emerging from the ground into the air, to commemorated it. I've always been really interested in the people and stories of the underground railroad, so the book was irresistible.

    Have a great week!

    1. The Thoreau book begged to come home with me. :D The Underground Railroad fascinates me; I'm looking forward to learning more about it. Your campus sculpture sounds neat, I'd love to see it.

  6. I loved discovering that I could get a Blu-Ray player that streamed Netflix, etc. Before, I was hooking my laptop up to the TV via an HDMI cable...and while it wasn't really that annoying to do, I like just sitting down and turning it on. Lazy much? LOL

My eldest son is looking for a car, too; he and his wife are visiting from Europe and will be here for three months. So far, not finding much. They just want a used car that can handle road trips.

Good luck on your search, which, I am sure, is for something more permanent.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Good luck to your son with his car search. I'm also looking for cheap but something that will last long term.

A couple people have mentioned they have a DVD or Blue-ray player that streams. Maybe that'll be my next tech purchase.

      Have a good week!

  7. Yay for the streaming stick! And it's a Roku, too! We have the Roku box and love it. We had one from 2009 when we dropped DirecTv and only replaced it earlier this year because it was finally crapping out on us. I haven't explored nearly enough of the free channels yet. That's on my To Do list. lol Have a wonderful week!

Yay for quiet weeks when we can just watch tv and read without interruption. Hope work is going well. Have a good weekend.

  10. Your search terms always crack me up! Yay for new books! I have The Hidden and I really want to try out DE Ireland. We're moving bedrooms around and turning the oldest's into her room/guest room because she lives full time in the town her college is at. I had thought about getting a streaming stick for the TV in there because I didn't want to pay for another cable box. I've heard good things about the Amazon Fire stick but I saw Roku has one too. We have a Roku box and like it so I may go with that one. Have a great week!

    1. I have the Roku stick and I like it. Streaming is a good cable alternative, especially for a guest room. I was excited to be asked to review the Ireland book as the reviews of the first one made it sound good.

Yeah, the search terms give me a giggle too.

      Have a great week!

  12. Seems like I do better at resisting books when I'm not on a No Buy Ban than when I'm on one, so might have to try that again. But can totally understand your selections, as you've picked some great titles! Enjoy your new TV!

  25. I have been looking into some streaming things like the roku for my TV viewing pleasure as I am not real happy with DirecTV right now. I could subscribe to some things on there and it be less than my current bill for channels I only watch half of. :(

It's hard not to grab books and I don't blame you for go off and picking up Heather Graham and Terry Spears. :)
