Blurb from goodreads:

A Little Golden Book biography about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, written for preschoolers.

This Little Golden Book is a compelling introduction to an inspiring woman, written for the youngest readers. From a young age, Ruth Bader Ginsburg knew that she wanted to fight for girls and women to have equal rights. She studied and worked very hard and became just the second woman--and the first Jewish woman--to be a United States Supreme Court Justice. This is a terrific read for future trailblazers and their parents!

My Thoughts:

I should start by saying I was a fan of Justice Ginsburg and her legal work. She did important work ensuring equal rights for all, and her voice will be sorely missed.

This book is a good introduction to the life and work of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It's an overview, light on depth, rosy, and uncritical, but a good introduction and starting point for the intended age group of preschool on up. I think it will lead to questions and discussions and some thoughtful curriculum and investigations. I liked that the text included several quotes by Ginsburg and the illustrations include a variety of people including different colors and at least one individual in a wheelchair. I admit to being disappointed that there was no mention of her Notorious RBG nickname.

  1. OH MY! This looks awesome. I wish I had a little niece or young girl to gift this too. Maybe I'll see if I can gift it to the library.

  2. RBG as you know attended James Madison H.S. here in Brooklyn. Funny thing... I was class of '65 and Chuckles Schumer was class of '67. I'm ordering the book as something to pass on to my grandkids.
