Books From the Backlog - Survive the Night by Katie Ruggle

This is a fun meme for sharing your TBR pile! There used to be another meme about neglected TBR books, known as Dusty Reads. That meme died and recently this one popped up. I'm delighted to participate and I'm linking up with Carole from Carole's Random Life of Books for Books from the Backlog. Join the fun and share a neglected book from your shelf.

This week's neglected book ~

He's always been a haven:
For the lost. The sick. The injured.
But when a hunted woman takes shelter in his arms, this gentle giant swears he'll do more than heal her battered spirit―he'll defend her with his life.

K9 Officer Otto Gunnersen always had a soft spot for anyone in need. As Monroe's very own Dr. Doolittle, he dedicates himself to rehabilitating the injured souls that cross his path―but for all his big heart, he's never been in love.

Until he meets Sarah Clifton's haunted eyes. Until he realizes he'll do anything to save her.

All Sarah wants is to escape a life caught between ambitious crime families, but there's no outrunning her past. Her power-mad brother would hunt her to the ends of the earth...but he'd never expect Sarah to fight back. With Otto and the whole of Monroe, Colorado by her side, Sarah's finally ready to face whatever comes her way.

It's time to take a stand.

Why did I add this to my shelf?

At the time I downloaded this review copy, I was a huge fan of this author, and had been on a binge of her books. Look at that dog on the cover; how could I resist? I still like the author but got tired of her books, maybe a binge wasn't a good idea, and haven't read any for a couple years now. It has a dog, a romance, and a mystery so I should like it when I do read it.

  1. I really like Katie Ruggle, but her books can feel kind of the same after awhile. I did really like this one though! And have you tried her series with the bounty-hunting sisters? Those are a lot of fun. :)

    1. Yes, I think the sameness was part of why I stopped. I haven't tried the bounty-hunting sisters; I'll look those up.

  2. I loved this whole series, especially with the K9 part. I will say some of it feels unrealistic but I love the kids in this one especially.

    1. Yeah, there's definitely an element or two of unrealism. I can deal with that if it's handled well or the rest of the story shines.
