Short & Sweet Reviews: The One for You by Roni Loren and A Different Kind of Cosplay by Lucy Felthouse

Now and then, I read a book but don't have a lot to say about it. When that happens, I'll save them up and then do two or more in a single post. I share, in a short paragraph or two, my thoughts on the story. Today, you have two quite different contemporary romances. Enjoy!

Blurb from goodreads:

The highly-anticipated fourth book in Roni Loren's unforgettable The Ones Who Got Away series.

She got a second chance at life.
Will she take a second chance at love?

Kincaid Breslin wasn't supposed to survive that fateful night at Long Acre when so many died, including her boyfriend—but survive she did. She doesn't know why she got that chance, but now she takes life by the horns and doesn't let anybody stand in her way

Ashton Isaacs was her best friend when disaster struck all those years ago, but he chose to run as far away as he could. Now fate has brought him back to town, and Ash doesn't know how to cope with his feelings for Kincaid and his grief over their lost friendship. For Ash has been carrying secrets, and he knows that once Kincaid learns the truth, he'll lose any chance he might have had with the only woman he's ever loved.

My Thoughts:

"The One For You" was very emotional, a little angsty, with some humor, some sexy scenes, a sweet and sexy romance, and a good end to the series. I did wish that Ash and Kincaid did a better job of talking to each other and working out their concerns. I'm not a fan of Big Misunderstandings. I did really like that Loren acknowledged and respected friendship and the love friends have for each other as well as focusing on romantic love.

Blurb from goodreads:

Zachary has a dilemma. His girlfriend, Reese, has a special birthday coming up soon and he has absolutely no clue what to get for her. It doesn’t help that Zach does not share or really understand Reese’s biggest hobby—comic books, superheroes and everything that goes with them. Zach raids Reese’s DVD collection for inspiration, and what he finds there gives him an idea…possibly the best one he’s ever had.

Sure, Reese has fantasized about her favorite superheroes. All those muscles and rakish smiles are to die for. She didn’t think Zach would ever really understand, though. But he proves her wrong in the best way possible.

My Thoughts:

I was taken with the premise of this book but also hesitated as I've been moving away from reading erotica. I took a chance and requested a review copy and then it languished on my Kindle for a few years. I finally read it and while I didn't love it, I enjoyed it. Warning, the sex scenes can be quite explicit. Despite that, they got repetitive after a while. I liked that Zachary takes the time to research, and try to understand, Reese's hobby. He was trying so hard  be a good, considerate boyfriend. "A Different Kind of Cosplay" was sweet, steamy, repetitive, and geeky fun.

Have you read either of these? What did you think?
