Most of you have probably heard of Humble Bundle but for those of you who haven't it works like this: Authors and/or publishers offer up books with a common theme,in this case adventures in science fiction. There are 24 books, some by heavy duty science fiction authors including Joe Haldeman and the late Octavia Butler. They are available at levels of pay for whatever you're willing to contribute.The more you pay, the more books available to you.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds (the reader can choose how much) will benefit Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. SFWA is a not-for-profit that informs, supports, promotes, defends, and advocates for science fiction and fantasy authors, and administers grants helping with medical costs and legal fees.
You can decide how your purchase money is divided among the creators, the charity, and the Humble Bundle tip jar. More info is available on the site. The books are typically DRM free and available in multiple file formats. After your purchase is confirmed, the books are available for download to your computer. You can even purchase the bundle as a gift; directions are the very bottom of the page.
