Never make a promise you don’t intend to keep…

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother's art gallery. Unfortunately, not only is The Red painted red, but it's in the red.
Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a mysterious man comes in after closing time and makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she agrees to submit to him for the period of one year.
The man is handsome, English, and terribly tempting...but surely her mother didn't mean for Mona to sell herself to a stranger. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red...

The Red is a standalone novel of erotic fantasy from Tiffany Reisz, international bestselling author of The Bourbon Thief and the Original Sinners series.

The Red is the naughtiest, most explicit, sexually decadent book I’ve ever written,” Reisz says. “If you’ve read my other books, you know that’s saying something.”

Reisz adds: “For years readers have been asking me to write The Red, a novel mentioned in the Original Sinners series written by my erotica-writing dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. Well, readers, be careful what you wish for.” again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red...

My Thoughts:

Be still my racing heart. I had to take breaks between chapters to catch my breath. Which is difficult to do when your brain is telling you to read as fast as you possible can. It's no secret that Reisz is one of my all time favorite writers. Erotica is always fun, but The Red is more than a great one handed read. It may seem odd to say that there's an element of class to sexy stories, but that's the word that comes to mind. Reisz balances the depraved and the divine.

The majority of the story takes place in the art gallery. I don't know about anyone else, but to me galleries hold a similar place as libraries, or cathedrals. There's a sense of awe and reverence when  you enter one. Which makes the delightfully naughty things done to Mona seem so much more wonderfully scandalous. Each chapter focuses on a painting, and how Mona's mystery man makes it an exquisitely carnal reality.

I love that the story brings the sensuality of paintings to life. During the second read, I looked up as many of the paintings as I could. I loved adding that visual element. Instead of heading to Google, leave a comment below by July 19th to enter to win a set of 11 cards with the artwork from The Red. Have your own mini gallery at home. This is a giveaway for the US only. No purchase necessary. VOID where prohibited.
