Blurb from goodreads:

Strange lesions found in the brain of a dead man have forensic pathologist Andy Broussard stumped. Even more baffling are the corpse's fingerprints. They belong to Ronald Cicero, a lifer at Angola's State Prison, an inmate the warden insists is still there. Broussard needs criminal psychologist Kit Franklyn to find out who is locked up in Cicero's cell. But an astonishing discovery at the jail almost has the two sleeping with the crawfish in a bayou swamp.

Steph’s Thoughts:

I guess it is safe to say that after three books in this series, I am a fan. Andy and Kit seemed like old friends when I picked up this book. Sleeping with the Crawfish, picks up a few weeks after Louisiana Fever ends. Poor Kit is dealing with the after effects of her adventures in the previous book and not having a good time of it. A part of me felt for her and another part of me wanted to give her a good swift kick in the butt. However, Andy convinces her to do him a favor, she has another adventure and I had to cut her some slack.

I was immediately sucked into this story as I was with the last two books. I finished it in a couple of hours. I couldn’t put it down, which is saying a lot. The formatting on my phone was weird but that cleared up as soon as I switched over to my tablet. The action was non-stop the entire time, but not overwhelming and a few surprises were tossed in that I did not see coming. I was able to easily follow both Andy and Kit as they went on their separate adventures. Normally, when I am reading a story and there is more than one POV, I am bored with one and long for the other to start back up. This never happens when I am reading Donaldson. I like both main characters and both stories are equally interesting and they are tied together smoothly. The stories and the characters are believable and likable. You feel for Kit because of what she went through in the previous book but you also have to admire her because she doesn’t back down when faced with another challenge. Yes she is feeling sorry for herself but she is a fighter. Andy is well Andy. He likes to eat and makes no bones about it but he is not a wimpy fat guy. He is pretty tough when he needs to be. I like the fact that the characters are down to Earth and not hard bodied models. They are not drop dead gorgeous; they are “real” people.

Again, I am always surprised at how well police did their jobs before all the fancy gadgets we have now. At one point a police detective sits at a computer and there is no password protecting it. She is easily able to poke around on it. I think now everybody has a password even on their home computer that might not have crazy top secret stuff on it.

Again, I loved this book and the series as a whole. I will be adding them to my physical bookshelves, so that I can read them again and again.
