Meet Roto and Roy, helicopter heroes!

When a dangerous forest fire burns out of control, helicopter Roto and pilot Roy are ready to fly to the rescue! They're braver than brave, tougher than tough, and nothing will stop this firefighting crew from completing their mission.

From Sherri Duskey Rinker, bestselling author of the Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site series, and award-winning illustrator Don Tate, this action-packed series starter will have kids cheering for two awesome new heroes—and imagining how they might save the day themselves!

My Thoughts:

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the ROTO AND ROY: HELICOPTER HEROES by Sherri Duskey Rinker & Don Tate Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

When I saw this was written by the same author who wrote Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site, I knew I wanted to read it. While it doesn't have the sweetness of that book, it is an exciting read for young children, four years old to about seven or eight. It has a helicopter and a pilot who swoop in to help put out a fire and rescue an animal. When trouble is here, they are always near.

The text is a little wordy and some of the rhymes are forced but the story will engage most older preschoolers. Additionally, the story is a little slow to start, but then the pace picks up and children will be invested in what happens. The illustrations are bright, bold, a bit exaggerated at times, but cheerful and they advance the story.

Roto and Roy is a cute adventure story that should appeal and have children asking for more.
