Steph's Thoughts:

When I saw that this anthology was raising money for veterans, I immediately signed up for it. I also purchased a copy because it is for a great cause. I was familiar with a few of the authors but several were new to me and I will be checking out some of their other stuff.

All of the stories are about the same hockey team but each features a different member of the team as they get to spend the say with the cup they just won. This anthology is only .99 and well worth the money. I enjoyed most of the stories and they are not short. Each one is well worth the .99 alone.

Bear Naked by Katie Kenyhercz - This story was the first one I read in the anthology and I have to admit, it was not my favorite. I’ve never been a huge fan of boy and girl getting back together stories. I just couldn’t find myself liking Bear, nor his lady Ari.

Blocked by Heather Long - I enjoyed this one much more. I was sucked in fast by Archer and Hoshi. I liked how he jumped in to help her without even knowing her. Their chemistry was awesome right from the start. I will admit that The Lord of the Rings reference in the beginning put me in a great mood and the first conversation they had really got to me because it showed that Archer was, as Hoshi put it, “More than his magnificent ass”.

Breakaway Brooke by Angi Morgan - Deacon has had his life threatened so his family hires a body guard without his knowledge. They hire Brooke, who already has a crush on him. Their chemistry is instant and hot. I liked the suspense in this one as well as the heat.

Caged by Virginia Nelson- It's Oliver's day with the cup and he takes it to his parent's graves. This is another one to rip your heart out. His parents died on 9/11 and he shuts out pretty much everyone until he reunites with Maisie. This was an amazing story.

Blade by Avery Flynn- Flynn and Gillie are a really fun couple. Definitely falls under the romantic suspense theme than others because someone is trying to steal the cup. Gillie is an ex-thief and has quite the personality. I really liked her. This one was a fun read.

Body Check by Desiree Holt - Matt and Liz are hot couple. He broke her heart ten years ago but they can’t stop thinking about each other. He hurt her terribly and I was glad that she made him work hard to get her back. They have some strong chemistry.

Check My Heart by Christi Barth - This one almost ripped my heart out. Kurt loses his baby brother to cancer. Lissette was his brother’s nurse. The attraction between the two of them is incredible and what Kurt does with his day with the cup will have you in tears. I loved this story.

Checking Yes by Misty D. Waters - Cooper and Savannah have been in love since they were kids. He treated her badly when he left to join the hockey league. I was all set to hate him but his reasons were compelling. This one turned out ok with me.

Courage by Lena Hart- Mason isn't a hockey player but he is the coach and now his wife, Jules, has filed for divorce. While I enjoyed the story of Mason and his wife working on their marriage, what struck me most was the author's representation of a child with autism. Mason's son has autism and the author either has a child with it or did a lot of research. It was spot on and amazing.

Deep Check by Kimberly Kincaid - I enjoyed this story. January and Finn had history together but as friends. He was attracted to her but stepped out of the way for his best friend Ash, who also had feelings for her. These two have some pretty intense chemistry. Apparently, this story is a novella in a series by the author. I am definitely going to be checking the series out.

Free Agent by Robin Covington - I have to admit this was my first M/M love story. Jamie and Etienne are perfect together. They have danced around their attraction for one another for a long time and they finally get to be together. This was a sweet story and I really enjoyed it.

Full Contact by Andie J. Christopher- I wasn't sure how I was going to like this one once I read that Anders' teammates had put a bounty on his virginity. I was not sure how this was going to play out but it turned out pretty good. I found myself giggling a few times.

In Skates Trouble by Kate Meader - The heat between Ford and Addy is really hot. The sexy talk they have in the beginning is fun and titillating and it leads to some hot sexy time. The real fun begins the next morning when Addy is gone and Ford realizes he doesn’t even know her full name. I liked this story. It was sweet and sexy.

Making His Move by Susan Scott Shelly - Arielle is Rod’s sister’s best friend and also the little sister of his best friend. He has had a crush on her for years. She has just been hurt by her ex and isn’t sure if she even wants to date anyone. I liked these two. It was a cute romance.

Penalty Box Blues by Robin Kaye - This one was adorable. Trish tutored Stryker in college and he paid no attention to the frumpy nerdy girl. She, however, was very aware of him and now he is very aware of her. I really liked their scenes together. The sexual tension was stimulating. I think this was my favorite story.

Ransom The Player by Nana Malone- Ransom is such a sweet man. The first few pages had me almost in tears. I love a man that is good to his mother. Lexa was the nerdy girl in high school. I loved this story. Nerdy girl gets the attention of the hot star she went to high school with. *sigh*

The Warm Up by Xio Axelrod- This was fun love story between Zim and Suji. I laughed out loud during the first few minutes of their meeting but that was soon replaced with some hot chemistry and then some more laughing. Definitely some romantic comedy going on here. I loved it.

Under the Midnight Sun by Kim Golden - Jonas suffers a concussion during the game. He heads home where he runs into Mariam. This one moved a little slow to start but then it took off. I really liked Mariam. She is a heroine with a great heart.
