Authors Who Inspired Horror Author Erin Hayes & An Amazon GC Giveaway

Good morning! Today I have a guest post for you from horror author Erin Hayes on the authors who inspired her. There's also a giveaway so grab a drink, some munchies, and settle in.

Sci-fi junkie, video game nerd, and wannabe manga artist, Erin Hayes writes a lot of things. Sometimes she writes books, like the fantasy mystery Death is but a Dream and the sci-fi middle grade book Jacob Smith is Incredibly Average.

You can reach her at tiptoegirl87@gmail.com and she’ll be happy to chat. Especially if you want to debate Star Wars.

Hi there!
I’m Erin Hayes and I’m the author of the horror novel Fractured and a few other books across a wide variety of genres. I’m sci-fi nerd, a geek, and a lover of all things horror. So you can imagine that I have some favorite horror authors that inspire me. Here they are, and maybe they can inspire you too!

Rhiannon Frater – From vampires and zombies to horrifying horror, Rhiannon’s books are such a trip! She’ll have you terrified and she’ll have you cheering for your favorite characters until they die a sad death in the story. If you haven’t picked up a Rhiannon Frater book yet, you’re missing out.

Stephen King – My first horror author I’ve ever read, and I still find him just as great as the first day I picked up The Stand. When you realize how many books and movies he has contributed, you really start to get an appreciation for his body of work. I highly recommend The Shining and The Long Walk if you haven’t read it. Amazing.

Cliver Barker – I first came across Clive Barker when I saw Hellraiser, and I wish I could see it again for the first time. The man is a genius. I’ve since devoured many of his books, which are across a variety of horror subgenres. I love them so much.

Neil Gaiman – While not exclusively a horror author, Neil Gaiman has written some of the spookiest books I’ve ever read. If you thought Coraline the movie was creepy, you should read the book. Still one of the scariest things I’ve ever read. And it’s supposedly for kids!

There are plenty of other authors who have inspired me as well, but just discussing these four has made me want to read them to be inspired again!

Thank you so much for having me!

  1. I so have to read a Stephen King book haa. I know I fail epically at that. Rhiannon is the best! And I have only read 2 books by Neil but they were very spooky even the one that was an MG novel!!
