BEA'S BOOK NOOK "I can't imagine a man really enjoying a book and reading it only once." C. S. Lewis “If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.” ― Oscar Wilde

I was tagged! Liebster Award

I haven't done one of these in ages so I thought, why not? Iza at The Hidden Red Alcove tagged me. I'm not going to tag people but feel free to answer some or all of the questions in the comments.

The rules are as follows :
1 - Thank the blogger who nominated you
2 - Answer the eleven question she asks.
3 - Nominate eleven bloggers.
4 - Ask these eleven bloggers eleven questions.
5 - Let these eleven bloggers know that they have been nominated.

As far as I'm concerned, it's optional to do 3-5 though if you do nominate a blogger, notifying them would be nice.

Iza's questions -

1 - What is the book of all times for you?

Oh, hmm. The book I got back to time after time is probably The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. It's such a rich complex story but at first blush seems like a simple child's story.

2 - Who's your favorite super hero(in) and why?

Hmm, growing up I was partial to Aquaman; I liked his looks and his ability to speak to ocean animals.

These days I am particularly partial to the movie version of  Thor - mythological being, deity, hawt looking, kind, learns from his mistakes, loyal, willing to sacrifice. What's not to love?

But for real heroes, give me police officers, fire fighters and soldiers. They put their lives on the line and don't get nearly enough recognition or pay.

3 - What would your dream life be?

My dream life -  a house small enough to be easy to clean and maintain but large enough for a library and friends and family to visit; for myself, my friends, and my family to be happy and healthy; to have enough money to live comfortably and without worry; have several cats; to travel when and where I want; to be able to read whenever I want.

4 - Do you have a favorite literature genre?

Currently, urban fantasy and mystery are tied for favorite. I've loved fantasy and mysteries in one form or another since I was a little girl. I don't think that will ever change.

5 - Paper book or e-book?

Yes. :D

I'm happy with either. I love the feel and look of a print book and I love looking at covers. It's just not the same with e-books. But e-books are so convenient; I have hundreds on my e-reader; I can easily look up the meaning of a word or a translation; links within can be useful.

6 - Favorite meal and what would you drink with it?

Shrimp scampi, grilled salmon, rice or cous cous, green beans in butter, honeyed carrots, biscuits, iced tea and zinfandel for drinks and for dessert, probably sherbert or fruit salad.

7 - Where's the best place you ever went to? (and do you have a picture?)

The best place? Hmm, I've been to Mexico, Canada, and Bermuda and traveled a little around the US.

Years ago, I spent some time in Colorado, in the western part of the US and the Garden of the Gods was amazing. It was gorgeous, awe inspiring, and made me feel both incredibly small and unimportant and like I was a part of a larger community.

Several years ago I flew out to Washington state to go camping for a long weekend and got to meet in real life people I had only met online. That was fantastic and a heck of a lot of fun. Here's a group pic we took at the end of the trip -

I'm in the back row, wearing the aqua tee shirt and sunglasses. In the front row, in the middle wearing a purple tee is author Patricia Briggs and her husband Mike is next to me in the tie dye shirt. This camping trip was for members of Patty's board and I had so much fun.

8 - What is the thing that makes your stomach flip in a bad way?

Abuse, of animals and people, and people burning. The latter scares the crap out of me and the former infuriates me.

9 - What do you think of libraries?

How many hours do you have? :D

I love libraries. They are one of a community's greatest resources - free, easy access to knowledge and information; to books, movies, music; to technology such as the internet; people trained and willing to help you find what you need. Libraries are essential.

For as long as I can remember, I have patronized libraries. As a little girl, I had access to my town's library, my school library and the library at the nearby military base (my father was in the military) and I usually had the maximum number of books checked out. Libraries extend my book budget, allowing me to read many authors and books I couldn't otherwise and the same with movies and music. For several years early in my blogging career, I didn't have the internet at home and had to do all of my blogging at the library during library hours. Without the library, I'd have had to shut down the blog. I have used my blog to share my love of libraries and support them. I regularly donate books, those I bought and those received for review, to local libraries.

I could go on and on but you get the idea. :)

Now, my questions. :) As I said, I'm not going to tag people but feel free to answer some or all in the comments.

1. Do you have a favorite book? If so, what is it and why?
2. What book do you hate the most and why?
3. What author would you do anything to meet?
4. Do you have a favorite place to read?
5. If you could travel to any location or any time, where would it be?
6. What scares you?
7. What's your dream job?

and some silly questions :D

8. tea or coffee? hot or iced?
9. Star Trek or Star Wars?
10. Unicorns or dragons?
11. boxers, briefs, or thongs?

Have fun with your answers! Thanks Iza for tagging me, this was interesting. :)

  1. LOL paper or ebook? Yes. ::snort:: Love that.

  2. 1. One book? Are you nuts? I need... well the whole body of work by some authors, like Patricia Briggs, Terry Pratchett, Spider Robinson, H.Allen Smith, Albert Payson Terhune, Lorna Freeman, Roger Hall. Then there are individual titles, like "And, To My Nephew Albert, I Leave The Island What I Won Off Fatty Hagan In A Poker Game..."

    2. Actually, it's a couple of sets. Trim them by a third, and I might consider them possible, but they're too overdone for me. Specifically anything LotR by Tolkein, and anything Dune.

    3. Gosh, most are either already dead (McCaffrey, Hall, Terhune, Smith), already met (Hi, Patty Briggs - I'm in the above photo too.), or... well Sir Pterry doesn't need to waste the time he has left on me. Maybe Lorna Freeman?

    4. At home, or in general? Home is good. The recliner is best, there.

    5. Benden Wyer Hatching Ground, of course!

    6. Lots of things. Men, frankly, as a cultural fear. Fire. Water.

    7. Probably something like what I do at my home board, with a living salary, with some more chance to vent on current topics or what not, and some proofreading/editing thrown in.

    8. Usually hot coffee. Today it's iced.

    9. Yes, please.

    10. I'll hang out with either. I blend better with the dragons.

    11. For whom? Me? I need cover on this acreage; definitely not thongs, and usually women don't wear boxers, right?

  3. Oh, also? That's Kate's husband at the other end. Mike Briggs is next to you in the tie-dye.
