A HOTTER IN TEXAS NOVEL The last thing veterinarian Leah Reece needs is a man in her life. They're nothing but trouble-and not even the fun kind. But when her apartment is broken into and Leah suspects Rafael, her dangerous half-brother, of foul play, she can't deny she could use a little help. She just never expected that help would come with twinkling blue eyes and a sexy smile... All PI Austin Brook wants is to nail Rafael DeLuna, the man who framed him for murder. He'll do anything for information-even lie about his identity to charm Leah, DeLuna's half-sister. But her sweet dimples and fiery spirit soon make her more than just his only lead. Leah becomes his every desire. As Austin closes in on DeLuna, it's clear he won't go down without a fight. Now the only way Austin can protect Leah is to reveal all of his secrets and risk losing her for good.

X's Thoughts:

This was the first book I’ve read by Ms. Craig and I was quite pleasantly surprised. I don’t know what I was expecting, but the cover certainly gave no clue to the intensity of the story within it.

Austin Brook is a partner in the ‘Only in Texas’ private investigation agency along with two close friends Dallas and Tyler. Now he going to do something that the partners had agreed to let someone else handle.

Roberto is a professional informant who is trying to get lead on the whereabouts of one Rafael DeLuna a dangerous criminal who had framed Austin for murder. He ran into a dead end with Leah Reese, DeLuna’s half-sister and now Austin is about to set out to become acquainted. Roberto managed to rent the apartment next to Leah’s for Austin and has set out to follow other leads.

With his partners protesting, Austin outlines his plan starting with getting a dog, going to her veterinarian practice and surprise aren’t we neighbors. There is only one problem with that, Leah specializes in felines, cats, and Austin has a phobic fear of cats.

I knew at that moment this book was going to snag me and hold on until it was done. I was right and as this story progresses, I found myself giggling at Austin’s antics as he tries to get close to Leah while avoiding contact with her cats; and holding my breath as things begin to smolder between the two of them.

When Rafael starts blaming everyone around him for deliveries gone bad, Leah is threatened and scared. Her younger brother, Luiz ends up on the receiving end of his cruelty and all hell breaks loose.

As secrets come out, painful memories brought to the fore, lies revealed and a romance starts to bloom between Roberto and Sara, Leah’s assistant, my emotions jump all over the spectrum. All I can think about is how can all these people have a happy ending?

Another book I couldn’t put down so I find myself buying the rest of the series! Five stars from me.

Congratulations on what I hope will be another best seller for you, Christie Craig!
